Has anyone else noticed that besides the the Barber shop and Casey's, the entire west side of the street is a mega-gift shop? They've even filled in a side street to expand it. Without the proper era shops, Main Street is only a bunch of building facades. The real theming and atmosphere was inside the buildings. Therefore, one half of this land is obliterated, and quite subliminally to most guests. What's to stop Disney from destroying the other half?

Don't get me wrong, I think every other land (maybe with the exception of Liberty Square) needs fixing too, but at least the theming is just a little ruined and easily fixable in the other lands. It's not completely gone like in the case of west main street.
You have a good point Cheshire. I too had said that some of the magic is gone from Main Street. Perfect example is the Main Street Theater.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that too. Lokks like demolition of the other half has already begun. I think it's a snow-globe or glass shop now that VMK has stopped paying the lease on the theater.
