Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

The attorney for the victim of the Mad Tea Cup Party beating, Aimee Krause, said that his client is planning to sue Disney by the end of the month. Why? Lack of Disney security will be part of the lawsuit. Honestly, I think this is ridiculous. Disney can't constantly watch every person for a possible attack. What do you think?

Seriously, this is silly. It's not Disney's fault for this and I don't want security guards around the park all the time b/c of situations like this.

She needs to sue the lady that did it, press charages and ask for prision time for her. Disney should be left out of this. Disney did not do anything to her.

It's a sad commentary on society when people who are wronged start looking for a handout from everyone (especially those "with" the means). Obviously, the victim (?) is upset, but suing Disney is ridiculous.

I think they are just hoping for it to settle out of court. collect at least a 1/4 of what you say you want and walk away fat and happy. If Disney does settle out of court i would put a disclaimer on the settlement stating they are never allowed in the parks again or face trespassing charges.

Disney security is far from effective though.

Okay, I posted this on d-cot, but the story is driving me crazy. Disney's accountability has to be tied to foreseeability. Who could foresee this criminal behavior while standing in line for Mad Tea Party? Now, if it were Dumbo.... jk.
Disney is the deep pocket and this woman is hoping Disney will pay her the nuisance fee to make the case go away. Personally, I think Disney should defend itself on this one.

At some point, companies like Disney are going to have to stand up and let the settlement-seeking attourneys know that they're not just going to dump mounds of cash for nonsense lawsuits!

This is nearly an epidemic, and Disney just happens to be a company with large enough pockets to make a stand. Initially, it will cost money, but after counter-sueing for court costs and attourney fees, Disney should come away ahead in the long run.
Sorry for the rant

, but this touched a sore spot of mine.

She did; the attacker was just sentenced to 90 days in jail this week.

Obviously it wasn't enough to satisfy the woman who was 'beaten', so I guess the next step is to go after Disney money with a frivolous lawsuit. So much for her credibility.

It's the "hot McDonald's coffee" litigious mentality of the American society today. Most likely Disney will settle with her and perpetuate the problem of frivolity in the legal system today.

I hate stories like this...hello people, you are going to a family theme park. Example: Do you know how many screaming little children have yelled and screamed during a parade??...I mean, pretty soon some crazy lunatic will start screaming at the kid and/or the parents for doing absolutely nothing to keep the kid quiet. What's wrong with people? You're going to the HAPPIEST place on Earth!

"Victoria Walker apologized to the victim Wednesday and was given credit for 32 days already served."
So, I bet she's happy with having to serve only 58 days after she refused a plea bargain that would have locked her up for a year.

Stupid Stupidity. Disney is not responsible for the actions of the guests. They do the best they can with the security checks at the entrance to the park. They can't do much more or everything will be tainted with distrust of the park guests.

We live in a society that always wants the quick money and has therefore become sue-happy. Anybody will sue anyone for a quick dollar. She is probably hopeing that Disney will settle and give here a sizeable amout to shut her up just so they dont look like they have lax security.
Hmm, lets see what could have prevented this......I know, perhaps everyone should be assigned a personal security guard to follow them everywere while at the parks. (dripping with sarcasm btw)
Alas, this wont protect us from stupid greedy people, or those crazy motorized wheelchairs.
