New Disney Shows on Travel Channel!

Post by lebeau » Apr Wed 09, 2008 8:51 pm

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago that mentioned new Disney Travel Channel specials were coming up. Here's the schedule:

Samantha Brown’s Disney Favorites 4/11 at 9PM
Samantha Brown, who appeared on the WDW Radio Show #53 (Feb. 10) is traveling the East coast to West coast to show her favorite Disney attractions, rides, restaurants, and characters at both Disney World in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland in Anaheim, California. In the parks she soars above the clouds on the rides, encounters wild animals on a safari, dines at the chef’s table, steps inside the dream princess suite, and watches a unique acrobatic performance.

Disney on a Dime 4/18 9 PM
Money-saving tips from travel experts are put to the test by actual Walt Disney World guests. These families show viewers how to have a memorable Disney experience on a budget by using the expert’s frugal suggestions.

Disney Luxury Celebrations 4/25 at 9 PM
During DISNEY LUXURY CELEBRATIONS, viewers are treated to a guided tour through the many extravagant amenities, activities and events that are available to those seeking a unique way to celebrate the special occasions in their lives in Disney style. Events highlight a fantasy honeymoon celebration, an ultimate father’s day celebration, a castaway birthday party, and a dream anniversary celebration.

The Disney Royal Treatment 5/2 9 PM
THE DISNEY ROYAL TREATMENT will follow real families and guests as they become part of an elegant Disney fairytale story. In the Magic Kingdom, an enchanted wedding, being crowned princess for a day, and a sweet sixteen fit for royalty are all ways that guests’ fairytale dreams come true.

Can't wait to watch these, thanks for posting!!!! It will give me a little more of a Disney fix until we can get back there. I've watched all the older episodes.

Is anyone else jealous of Samantha Brown?! She gets to experience all the Disney magic. :(

I'm not sure how much she gets to enjoy it. I bet it's just another day at work for her. Still, it seems like a good job if you can get it.

I've actually seen Samantha Brown pop up in some odd places. She does some commercials. We get a monthly "value pack" of coupons and she is almost always included on one for some kind of window treatement. It's not a celebrity endorsement type thing. She's just on the coupon as a model.

Makes me wonder how well the TC gig pays...

I'm also really jealous of Samantha Brown but most of the shows that the Travel Channel does on Disney are about things I already know about.

I'm interested to see what they do with this. I'm thinking it'll involve bringing your own food into the parks, or 'plan your trip during free dining'. Staying off property maybe? I would think if it was a 'Disney sanctioned' show they wouldn't accept showing that as an option.

Yeah she turns up on local commercials around here too. I was really surprised when I first saw her. I figured maybe it was a family member's business.

Good point. I bought the "Disney on a Dime" book, and I'm sure there are some things that Disney doesn't want you to know about. It will be interesting to see how they handle this.

I got "Disney on a Dime" from the library (I figured it was in keeping with the theme of the book :) ) It was a decent read. A lot of it is just "common sense" ways to save money for any vacation. When I saw the title, I wondered if the authors of the book are involved in the show.

I'm sure there are somethings that Disney won't want to see included in a TV show.

They have done one of these around Vegas, and one on cruises. Without seeing the one on Disney yet. My guess is it's stuff like..

"shop around" - look at several travel sites and call yoru authorized Disney Travel Planner
"look for discounts" - Disney Visa, Workplace Discounts
"don't go durning the busy season" - Disney rates are seasonal try and not go durning spring break, Summer or christmas
"Disney Dinning Plan" - a great way to save money
"Make a budget, and stick to it" - make sure you plan for gifts, snacks etc..
"Don't rent a car" - use DME and Disney transport
"Stay on property" - for EMH and the Transport

Travel Channel can fill an hour with stuff like that. Considering they only need 40 minutes of content per hour. You pad it with summaries between the breaks and a review at the end. Stick in a few "experts" with sound clips. Then add some stock footage of the parks, with a voice over "expanding" on what the expert just said.
