RichThe Wave debuts at Disney's Contemporary Resort, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located on the first floor with a "superlounge," the upscale restaurant will offer "bold American cooking with flavors from all over the world." The seasonal menu will feature local and regional products when possible, organic beers and trendy cocktails such as the "antioxidant cosmo" with açai juice. The innovative wine list has a quirky claim to fame -- all screw caps, no corks. Cutting-edge wines from around the globe will be showcased.

I guess this is in the place of the quick dining that use to be on the first floor?
When I was there in Dec. I was a little disappointed in that the quick counter was reduced to a small refrig. of drinks and cold sandwiches. I assumed this was a temporary situation and may still be. Any one know anything different?

I miss the old arcade. It was worth making a special trip to the resort. The new one is crammed into old shop space and it's really stupendously lame.
The shop employees didn't seem too happy about the situation either.
I guess they're going to need more restaurant space to handle all the new rooms, so screw the amenities...

It is temporary (and I think you're being generous in saying you were a little disappointed; I personally thought it was terrible.bbowen13 wrote:I guess this is in the place of the quick dining that use to be on the first floor?

After the Wave is finished, the Concourse Steakhouse will be closed and replaced with a permanent quick/counter service place, which I heard at one point was going to be called Chef Mickey Express, but I can't find anything confirming that now. From allearsnet:
I agree the set up now with the arcade mooshed into the 4th floor is a stupid idea, but I do remember the Food and Fun center was too small even before Kingdom Tower was ever thought of. I'm not sorry they're upgrading their quick service. I wish they'd found another place to put it though. Poor Concourse Steakhouse.Beginning July 30, 2007, a temporary quick service restaurant called Tempo Grab and Go will operate near the Outer Rim lounge on the 4th Floor. It will be open through August 14, 2008. The new table service location will be called The Wave, and is tentatively set to open in late March or April 2008. Once The Wave opens, the Concourse Steakhouse will close and a new, permanent quick service restaurant will be constructed in that space, set to debut in mid-August 2008.

No kidding. That was our favorite place to stop in on arrival day prior to heading to the parks! It was a neat transition between the hectic pace of travel and the carefree fun of WDW.Poor Concourse Steakhouse.

To do the improbable, we first have to dream the impossible.

I wouldn't say it was spectacular, but I never had a bad meal there, which is more than I can say for some of the restaurants that aren't closing.
I suppose it was only a matter of time before the Chef Mickey took over that space (or some of it) though, considering it's like feeding time at the zoo most hours of the day in there. I can also kind of understand having the quick service place on the 4th floor too, considering the layout of the hotel and the fact that Kingdom Tower will connect in via the 4th floor and not the ground floor like the North Garden Wing did. I guess the people in the South Garden Wing are s.o.l. though (assuming they don't knock that down, too).

My wife and I enjoyed the concourse...and of course it brought back memories of when I was a kid...eating down there and hearing the monorail wisp by, and feeling the floor shake ever so slightly....
Is there a place to find what the new layout on the concourse will look like?
