Oh, dear god.

I agree that the thing needs to be updated or scrapped (there's a lot of prime real estate there), but not everything in Disney needs to have a marketable cartoon character in it.

Most of the "classics" that are world famous aren't based on other movie properties.

The thing I find so disturbing about all these horrible changes at Disney is that they're succeeding at changing customer expectations, to the point where they've got some of us thinking like Accountaneers.

I personally go to Disney for things that are Disney-related. It does not bother me in the least if/that everything has a character of some sort in it. If they started pulling away from that, it would be Universal or Busch, not Disney.

Another one is the Indy Speedway. The exhaust from the cars is unbearable, and the steering is difficult. I had a car once where I couldn't control it at all.

I totally agree. Almost seems like they should be ticketed for pollution. LOL

I actually wouldn't mind a Cars overlay on the Speedway. Although, it would be better if they could move the thing away from Tomorrowland. Ity never belonged there anyway. As it is now, there are better kiddie car attractions at a lot of local theme parks.

I was thinking the same thing. Soarin' in 3-D would be sweet, too.

It did belong there back when the Interstate system was new and everyone was amazed by the fact that you could get from one place to another twice as fast as they could before. But yes the Speedway isn't exactly futuristic but that can be attributed to the lack of attention it has received over the years. I would love to see some sort of update to it but not a CARS update. In Disneyland they are already having a Carsland in DCA and from what the rumors we are getting out of WDW MGM will have a Carsland of sorts in the backlot area. So if they have a Cars overlay on the Speedway OR Autopia it would be redundant.

I voted for Space Mountain. When we rode it in Sept 06, I felt like I was gonna fall out of the ride, it was very jerky. I like the idea of the ride, but gosh, coasters have come a long way.

I also agree COP is dated also, but love it for the nostalgia.

Star Tours, dd loved this when we went. It too was jerky for me.

I choked my Easter candy as I read that
When DL and MK were first opened, the only place you would find movie-based characters was in Fantasyland. IMO, that makes the most logical sense, and is how it should be. Putting Iago and Zazu in Adventureland is like putting the Country Bears in Tomorrowland. Iago and Zazu belong in Fantasyland and the Country bears belong in Frontierland.

As far as the speedway, I've always wondered why MK's doesn't have the same theme as Autopia. From videos I've seen (of the current version)Autopia fits the theme of Tomorrowland better and looks more enjoyable to ride with a more elaborate track layout and scenery. I wish they would just tear up the current track layout and get rid of the racing theme.

I'd be in favor of a non-Cars update for the Speedway too. Especially if they could make it fit in with the Tomorrowland theme somehow. But the Cars idea is the most obvious (so it's probably the one they will use.) I don't want to see Cars all over the place. You're right that Cars at MK and HS would be overkill.

Definitely needs to be either the Speedway or Star Tours. I thought that with the new movies George Lucas and Disney would have wanted to revamp Star Tours to generate more interest but I guess the old saying "if it ain't broke" comes into play here. I agree with Calypso that you can find race ways like the Speedway pretty much anywhere.

I'm going for the Indy Speedway. Since it's in Tomorrowland let's make them hovercars or something like that.

Star Tours without a doubt needs a good facelift. The area is amazing but the movie and ride system really needs updating.

Mmm I agree - there is nothing Disney about this ride and similar things appear in other parks. Possibly replace it with something totally different. Not sure on what though - the land is quite big.

I voted for Space Mountain, but Star Tours is a close second for me. Space Mountain needs a track rehab desperately with new trains (like DL).

I'm another one that doesn't see what all the fuss is about the characters... To me it's not who is in the ride that makes it a good ride, but how they tell the storey.
