Activity and Absence

Post by Croaker » Mar Tue 25, 2008 2:31 pm

I recently looked at my "ticker" showing that i was now 6 months past my last visit to Disney. Why look at it? well because i'm planning another quick jaunt to enjoy the Night of Joy....while i was a bit harsh on the people that were there last time i have come to realize that my judgement should be pointed at myself first. why didn't i go out of my way to be an example? if they seemed upset, what did i do to make them feel better? I did enjoy the music. there is nothing like the concert expierience that you can get at Night of Joy (like lack of Pot smell! laugh) the pictures and video of bands you can get is great! but i digress from the topic. What i found (mostly of myself) is the build up to Disney has you on listening everyday, checking forums, creating new topics....then your visit! return, report and fade away. Its an Overdose of Disney (some of you are thinking...is there such a thing?) you get tired of it and either because you have had your fill...or you miss it, you stop visiting the site, you stop reading Deb Wills site, you even quit listening to podcasts. a few months pass, you start thinking in the future for your next vacation and as you check out other destinations you start looking at the activities they offer and an $80 zip line run or $50 horseback ride seems so insignificant and your eye wanders to check rates for another Disney Vacation and you find it hard to pass up...so you check out Mousesavers, Deb's site and you start listening to a podcast or two....next thing you know your surfing Travelocity, Orbitz, Cheaptickets, etc.....soon your posting in the forum again and wondering if they are going to offer the free Dining again. laugh...my what a vicious circle of Life we live in. but at least we get to put a smile on our faces and warmth in our hearts at the thought of losing ourselves in the fantasy that is Disney.

anyone else seem to follow in a similar or opposite fashion?

So true...
Starting in May of '07 I was on every Disney site every day prior to our end of July trip. I stayed up to speed through the first two weeks of August or so after returning and then abandoned all things Disney.

Now, about 7-8 months removed from the trip I'm coming back to sites and such. I'm trying (trying is the key word) to convince my wife to go back in Feb. '09 but she has no interest. She's agreed to out Oct. 2010 trip and wants nothing to do with anything before that.

Maybe if I find a deal too good to pass up...

Hey, I did this! I planned and planned our first trip...up till the wee hours of the morning trying to figure out should I go to Chef Mickeys or Crystal Palace, POP century or Movies, park hoppers or not....

Then the day we got home... I couldn't even look at a Disney web site....I kept saying a week ago we were doing....and at this time we were eating, and on and on...oh, I got so depressed....

It took a few months for me to even think about visiting the boards again. But, I did. And then it was like when is free dinning coming back, did they release a code... now I am just wishing that I had started saving for my next trip the day we came back!

But am hoping to be going back, maybe not so soon as I would like, but I am going back!

I go through withdrawls at random times. Whether I'm on the verge of a trip or just getting back or whatever. I'll just get in this mood and here I am posting, listening, smiling, and wishing I could go back. School and gas is sucking me dry so No DL for a while. :( But there is light at the end of the tunnel... this summer, me my friends and a bunch of other people are going to do a Disneyland Scavanger hunt. It's intense! :D
I do stuff sometimes.

We go every year, never get tired of it, never lose the excitement over it. 8-)

I'm fairly certain I could go every year without becoming "bored" over the idea. As finances stand, though, we're usually about 3 years between trips.

Although we have gone on some fairly good vacations other than WDW or DL, I always find myself comparing them to my Disney trips...then wondering when I can do another Disney trip!

Although I scoff at the idea of having too much Disney, I must admit I do go into spells where I stop coming to the site and listening to the radio for a while. And then just as random as those dry spells pop up, I'm right back into it with a vengeance.
