Cancelled my 2008 Disney Trip

Post by Croaker » Jan Thu 03, 2008 11:10 am

Yup after this christmas, my wife and I were discussing when in November or December we should make our trip to Disney. We were discussing how stressful and hectic this christmas was and looking at the calander when i saw that next christmas is on a thursday. I thought about our free time we have in a time share and was thinking if i really wanted to use it for an off site property in Orlando when i thought about Subsonic had said in an earlier discussion about trips....We checked the plane tickets and with a free stay for a week at a resort the cost is very close to Disney so...we decided we would have a Kiwi Khristmas! time to see the Southern Cross and bask in summer bliss next christmas! cashing in my disney dollars and trading in Orlando for Auckland! the kids are excited....it didn't hurt to tell them that space mountain wouldn't be up and running until late 2009 anyways (if by then..laugh) speaking of "if by then" i have been out of touch...is the Yak-n-still-not-ready restraunt in Animal Kingdom open yet?

P.s. thanks sub for the discussion about 8 months ago!

Didn't realize Space Mountain was shut down for awhile. Major renovations/changes happening?

Thanks

Sounds like a great trade off - we went to London in 2006 instead of a big Disney trip that year. Disney is great, but there is a big world to see out there.

I read the original post and quickly skimmed the rest of the thread...is the SM rehab still a rumor or has that been confirmed?

Well.....recently checked into tickets to New Zealand. $3000 per person. thats just the flight. adding our stay thats another $1500. now add food. so a nice jaunt to Kiwiland is a whopping starting price of $13500 plus food and transportation once there. hmmm...now since i was mad at my timeshare i thought where do they want me to stay? so ....Christmas isn't in New Zealand this year...its in Alcopulco. which will cost us $2640 total for one week all inclusive. hmmm what to do with the money saved....hey! how about Disney for Night of Joy again? roughly $4000 for a week...so instead of New Zealand (cry...maybe 2009) it looks like i get 2 weeks vacation for half the price.

Space Mountain was open in late January when I went. Not sure if it's closed now or not.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

Good for you! I think it will be great for your kids. Now that my kids are getting older, I'm considering trips to places other than WDW too.
