Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

I read this article today. About Disney buying back it's Disney Stores!
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120601284481051653.html
That is great news. I miss the Disney Stores and how they really had a feel for Disney when they 1st hit the market. It was my favorite store to hit when I went to the mall. As my Disney Store Credit Card would have attested to

back in the day!

This is great, I can't wait to be able to change tickets and such in the stores in stead of having to go to the parks or even calling Disney. I hope they are able to sell some of the park merch in the stores. I would love to get Pins, shirts, hats, etc from the parks at the local stores.

To be honest my wife and I have been unhappy with the mechandise and quality of items since "A Childrend's place" took over.
Hopefully things will get better again.

Oh, I hope this goes through. The selection in the stores right now is really bad.

I hope this happens. I don't like the way the Disney stores look now. I avoid them because of it.

It would be great to see the stores back into the hands of Disney and for them to be taken care of. I agree with DR Rav it would be nice to have park merchandise in them. Hopefully this will happen. I long for the glory days of Disney, when the name really meant something special!

by the looks of the article, only about 2/3 of the stores are being put back into Disney control. the other 1/3 are still with ACP (not the user on the forums here

)

That is great news. When my family would go to the mall, I would spend the entire time there (an hour +-). I would sometimes shop, but mostly watching the advertisements for the resorts, and look'n at all decorations. My family would come and get me when it was time to leave.
Now I walk in then out. There is nothing "magical" about the place.

That's great news!
My first job after many years of being a mom and housewife was to work as a greeter at The Disney Store.

As many have said, this is fantastic news! I'm hoping they bring back the fabulous decorations to the store in the Mall of America soon. It'll give me a reason to go there again and bring a little magic to the north!
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I just went to the Disney Store last night. We were looking for a Mickey graduation antena topper. A cast member informed us that they haven't had them in a while, but perhaps when Disney is once again the owner..... She was so excited, (I didn't even say anything about this post). She was so happy at once again being a "real" cast member, w/ Disney benifits.

What are the benifits to cast members that work in the stores?

Back when
casrin and I worked for the Disney Store, the park-related perk was that we did receive theme park tickets twice/year. That was in the 90s though... I don't know if they'd kept that going at the end.
Most of it was just "knowing" you worked for the Mouse that made it so cool.
