I had the 5 hour version, with some cheesy videos and games (like which table can come up with the most Disney animated character names, etc. We didn't win :( ). They gave out little toy characters as prizes for getting things right, etc.

Packwingfn,

How many did your team name? Was it still 90 seconds?

When I did my internship (June 95), our team took first and set a new record. Of course, Traditions was still 1 1/2 days back then. The trainers made the mistake of challenging me on one of the names. I gave them the name of the movie, the songs the character sang and the name of the actress who did the voice.

I forgot how long it was, it could have been 90 seconds or 2 minutes at least. All I remember was that it went by real fast and we were 2nd, and close to first only by a few.

I think we had 90 seconds. I seem to recall someone questioned the winning team because they used Pixar characters. As I recall, they decided they could use Pixar characters because they were released under the Disney banner.

I've still got my Traditions book in a bag with lots of other stuff from Disney (all the docs etc we got I kept):

Some other bits of interest: Acceptance letters, Acceptance pack (outside), Acceptance pack contents, Location training literature, Welcome folder (outside), Welcome folder (contents). Resource guide (accomodation maps, phone numbers, etc), etc.

*sniff* Ah, memories. Yeah, my team never won anything in Traditions. I think we came close.

Even after Traditions, you still need to take as many classes as your training requirement demands. Then there are the refresher-type classes, and the E-Learning classes.

Same here, I didn't get any of the little prizes :(

I did win a monorail pin in one of the daily ODF briefing/meeting thingies by correctly telling the manager the name of the new show at the Magic Kingdom (I'd actually been to the first showing of it that very same morning before going to work); Dream Along with Mickey :)

Ahh yes. I also recall there were a couple of us who it took a few days for them to get the cast portal accounts working for, so we couldn't do them at the times we were scheduled to, and had to do them a few days later

Hm, I don't remember hearing that one... What was it referring to?

I hated the E-Learning classes!!! The ones that involved alot of powerpoint, then you had to take a quiiz on the end. Alot on Safety, Absestos, Animal Safety etc etc. Soooooo boring. You sit there with your head phones on hoping it was almost over!

heh. Yes. I know what you mean! I had a cash handling one too, which explained how to count money. The questions in the test bit were of the sort similar to: "A guest buys $2.50's worth of <something>. Click on the coins/notes you'd give them as change from a $20 note."

Fun. Ish.

Am I dating myself by saying the top of the line computers were 486's back when I did it and there were not any e-learning programs yet. Though I did take a couple of courses through Disney U.

Oh the other hand, I had to keep quite a few certifications up to date every year; CPR, First Aid, O2 administration, Blood Born Pathogens, etc... Then there were the membership dues (PADI DiveMaster) insurance costs (DiveMaster Liability.

And of course the annual physical was a joy. Word of advice, remember to have breakfast and drink some liquids the morning before a physical... Getting dizzy from a simple blood draw is not a good way to get your dive status renewed.

That one was in Safety In Motion(SIMS). There's also the famous, "Big load, big toe."

I didn't like how they made you take the E-Learning classes during your first day. I mean, you get to walk around for a couple of hours, without much stopping, then they sit you in a chair and take class after class; it's so exhausting. Then you get to find a costume that fits, and that's just so much fun.

LOL *sigh* I really miss my college program. I was there from January to August of 07' I wish I was still down there. I loved every minute of it, and hahaha actually I enjoyed traditions, and I still have a tape measure that says Safe-D Begins With Me from a give away. I remember the E-Learning classes too, they weren't bad but I know the other kids in my training group and I were really excited to get started, we just wanted to get into those costumes!! :mickey:

Awesome. What is it like being a campus rep? Today I'm almost like an unofficial campus rep as I'll be meeting a girl I met on facebook that goes to my school that is doing the Fall 2008 CP. She is excited and nervous about the College Program like i was one year ago so I'm going to meet her on campus and give her as much advice as possibile.
