Treehouses making a comeback

Post by rdeacon » Feb Thu 14, 2008 11:15 am

I was surfing around the web and read a story of how they are bringing the tree houses back from the dead..

Read all about it here

You can also view the pdf plans, here

The plans provide you with a better view of the proposed new design, and a map of the current property.

I have to say the plans sound very exciting. I would love to stay in one! Cool beans!

Also its a nice plus for those of you who are members of the DVC.

That would be so cool to bring the tree houses back. I loved staying in them when I was a kid!

Great idea to bring the treehouses back! I remember when they were being used that families loved staying there.

Wow, that's great! Looking at the plans on the pdf file, it looks like each unit will be very private. I can't wait to see them!

thanks for the news, rdeacon!

it's funny, cuz i never knew a thing about the treehouses until last nov. when we were staying at SSR. we had stayed at SSR a few times before (it's our home dvc resort), but i never noticed them.

shortly after our trip i went nuts trying to find out what they were on the net, and was pretty surprised to read about them.

so this could be cool! it'll be interesting to see what everything will look like in person at the end of the construction. i wonder what they'll do about elevators, etc., too.

Why are these called "Tree House" villas? Are they actually built on stilts or something, like they were up in a tree? Could somebody describe these better? The pdf plans in the link look interesting.

Homigosh. I always wanted to stay in one of these as a kid and my parents were never game, then by the time I could do it myself they weren't open anymore. I'd be so excited to finally get the chance. :D

cap396, they're more on stilts than up in a tree... but not really. Here's a pic. Link!

imagine a house on a center pedestal... looks like a big tree.

Trunk and the house becomes the canopy

Thanks for the picture link DisBeamer. Looks like a great place to stay. I really like the trees and woods that surrond the villas.

I would love to stay in the Villas...we usually stay at Port Orleans and everytime we take the boat to DD, we pass them and usually the boat's captain goes on about how they are only for the international college program and no one will ever stay in them because of the Disabilities Act. I can't wait to see what will actually happen with them...yay!! :mickey:

I cannot open the plans PDF. It shows to be a broken link. I saw these the first time taking the boat ride from POFQ to DTD. I thought it would be cool to stay in them. I am sure they will be very expensive.

I've always wanted to stay in those... last few times we went cast members (especially from the college program) were staying there. Staying at Port Orleans, we can see them during the riverboat ride to DTD.

Of course the chances of us ever getting a dvc membership is slim :( we can't bring ourselves to spend that much on a timeshare.
