Fire On Safari

Okay... there have been times when I've wondered how well I would fare climbing down the track inside Space Mountain if it broke down. Even worse, the Matterhorn at DL. But, the safari truck catching on fire and having to bail out would be interesting! Of course, I guess I might be concerned if it broke down in the area where the rhinos run free across the road --- my youngest would try to chase one down and hug it!

Wow. Hopefully it was just that one vehicle. I'm glad that the attraction is expected to reopen today. A lot of my high school students (I'm a teacher) are going on a school trip to Disney World this weekend and that's one of the rides they really want to do. (Unfortunately, I do not get to chaparone this trip!)

the more dangerous of the animals are usually separated from the roadby some kind of hiddem barrier. usually a very deep moat or something. really, about the worst animal that actually crosses the road in front og the vehicles are birds or the giraffe(s).

That bridge over the croc pens can't be all that safe either..... You can see what I mean by checking out some of the videos on Google Tube (google video and you tube combined):

Are you kidding???? Holy cow! Was that on a tour or something? My youngest (8 yrs) is devoted to rhinos. Last fall, she went door-to-door and collected $ that she gave to the International Rhino Foundation, which has an adopt-a-rhino program. $30 allowed her to adopt one for 2 days! She got a certificate and a picture of the rhino she adopted. Anyway, when I retire from practicing law, my dream job is to be a tour guide at WDW. She plans on working at AK taking care of rhinos and living with me!i just had the privilage of feeding some rhinos a few weeks ago. The are actually much gentler then I imagined. I took a tour at Metro Zoo down here in Miami. It was amazing!

Well a truck is like anyother vehicle in the fact that proper maintenance is the key to long life. Granted you can't see every problem the vehicle has you can only diagnose the ones you either know about or have been told about. Anynumber of things could have caused that fire leaking fuel line, oil that splashed onto the engine block during an oil change, low engines coolant, dirt fill/covered radiator (which is very likely on those trucks), or any of 100 different causes. All of these problems can occur in any car at anytime.nancynohorse wrote:I'd never thought of the "what if the truck breaks down (or catches fire)" for this ride before. Yikes.
I'm not trying to scare anyone into not driving, the risk of any of these happening is less than getting in an accident so be on the look out for that more.
