It's ok. We forgive you!Calypso wrote:Okay... I'm in the minority here, but I'll fess up. I hated CBJ as a kid and I avoid it to this day.

I could take it or leave it myself.

Big thumbs up for going to see the Country Bears, with the caveat that when I saw them in December, they were in terrible shape. Here's hoping for a rehab to refresh and re-fur them in the near future.
I personally liked the HoP as a kid because if you watch the presidents while they're standing around, they move and whisper to one another and nod and stuff. It's pretty cool, even if you're not interested in what they're talking about. Fidgety bunch.

I saw CBJ when I was 6 or 7. I remember I liked it. But I've had no desire to revisit it as an adult. I'm sure someday I'll go again with the little one(s).
I saw HoP on that same trip decades ago. My dad is a big history fan and I think he got a big kick out of it. I wasn't bored, but I didn't love it. I don't think I was old enough to realize it was fake.
When I took my wife for her first trip (our honeymoon) she wanted to see HoP. I couldn't imagine why as she's not even remotely a history buff. But she enjoyed it. If nothing else, it's air conditioned and you can get off your feet for a while. I think that's a big reason why HoP is still around.

I try to see both shows on each visit. Our daughters, ages 9 and 11, liked HOP when they first saw it. It just depends on the child's interests. Once when my wife was in a wheelchair, we got to sit right down front and I was amazed at how lifelike the AAs are. I agree, Country Bears could use some TLC, though.

Definitely give them both a try. They both generally don't have much wait other than the wait until the next show and i'm pretty sure you can leave (albeit a bit rude) in the middle if no one digs it. The Hall of Presidents is a bigger question mark on most families' itineraries but it's good ol' patriotic fun imo.

see the HOP
The HOP is a little boring but really cool. The presidents act like real people. They talk amongst themselves, the nod their heads and the message is good. My mom LOVES the HOP. She wants to salute and sign up to go into the armed forces every time she sees it! And the country bears make us laugh really hard. But we only go every once in awhile. They do a X-mas Country Bears but not this past year at the Very Merry. We were really disappointed. But they are both worth it to see at least once!!
