The only thing I remember about that ride was the little girl in front of me who kept splashing me every time she paddled. First and last time I ever tried it.Lion Sleeps Tonight wrote:yeah the last time i did that, it wasnt fun at all. the crew member i had leading our canoe was very nice and i dont even remember doing anything besides paddling until my arms hurt.maliboomer wrote:Poohs adventure is awful but Davy Crocketts Explorer Canoes was painful, mentally and physically.
Love the canoes!!!! As long as I'm in a canoe full of all of my friends and we all just paddle as hard as we can until we pass the canoe in front of us...maliboomer wrote:Poohs adventure is awful but Davy Crocketts Explorer Canoes was painful, mentally and physically.
Ah the memories...
PS: Isn't CANOE a funny looking word?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I should try bringing all my friends on the canoe and try and beat out the other ones. that would be fun, and painful.

I so agree. Ruins DLR. Moving the Astrorbiter and killing Peoplemover was a horrendous mistake.pgreger wrote:Can I just say the CURRENT state of the entire Tomorrowland at DLR is the DUMBEST thing in any Disney park?
And I have to say CA seems pretty cheap overall. I met a guy whose plumbing company handled much of that work on the park, and he was still dumbfounded by how poorly it was conceived and executed (e.g., all the restaurants in one place, the caterpillar train ride could have gone around the bugs Life area, instead of a 35' loop, etc). After seeing how everything was done from the inside, he predicted major infrastructure problems within five years.
The dinosaur area of AK is a lot like that too, although my kids played there for ever. Which leads to my "dumbest ride" vote: Dinosaur.
My impression of the ride is sort of a slow motion, off-road version of Mr Toads Wild Ride, in a space about 50 feet in diameter, with hoky scenery and PAINFULLY LOUD sound.
And when I say that, I mean 'painful' as in akin-to-repeated-stabs-with-an-ice-pick-into-the-ear-canal. The blast of loudness is supposed to make it scary, I guess, and obscure the fact that the ride is dumb beyond belief.
I stood for an hour waiting to do a baby swap for the ride, watching the photos of people in the ride, when the carnotaur pops out again. Maybe 5% seemed to be enjoying themselves, 10% seemed scared, and the rest seemed annoyed and uncomfortable, many rubbing bruises from the sideway motion of the plastic car jabbing them in the ribs. Wee!
The dinosaurs on the train at DLR is way better. I know; its still better.
[I'm hoping the upcoming Narnia movie(s) bring some cool rides to a new AK "Beastly Kingdom." Maybe the good karma of that area will bring balance back to the force for AK. As for DLR Tomorrowland, I've given into despair.]
No, no... He's got a point.

I not a big fan of the actual Dinosaur ride, the preshow and post script tv monitor show is cool as is the loading/unloading area. However the ride is rougher than need be, terrifying to the little kids, and just not all that well done - Indy over in DL is using the same mechanics and concept but is vastly superior. Give it some more light, smooth out some of the really tough and jerky spots, and then it'll start to get better...
The main reason it has crowds [and when I've gone there are all of 5-10 minute lines] is it is one of the few thrill rides in AK. I think the new EE area will pull the thrill seekers more than Dinosaur once that opens up since Kali River is near-by [which is another so-so one, GRR in DCA is, in my mind, much better].

G2-4T, I agree, better said than I.
Maybe I was being a little harsh.
After the great build-up (and long hot wait), seeing everyone else's excitement (quite new at the time), I was ready to mooove. But it just sort of bumps along. So the ride was sort of let down by comparison. I haven't gone on the Jurassic Park ride at Universal, but I suspect Disney's is weaker by comparison.

The thing is, you're traveling on a completely flat surface. Disney has developed the cars for the ride to run on a completely flat floor, in a completely open space. They can then program the car to act as if on rough terrain, as well as program turns and speed through the ride.G2-4T wrote: Give it some more light, smooth out some of the really tough and jerky spots, and then it'll start to get better...
Those crazy imagineers are at it again...

The Jurassic Park ride at Universal is horrible. Disney's is a far better ride. But that is my opinion.kronk's angel wrote:G2-4T, I agree, better said than I.

The really stupid thing about Jurassic Park the ride is you get soaked. It's so stupid they designed it that way. I want to go on it to look at the cool stuff but I don't want to get soaked. That's why there's not much of a line anymore. Stupid designers. "Oh people like getting wet"
Splash Mountain did it right. You only get sprayed a little.

Splash Mountain can get you very wet. Sometimes i'm shivering after i get off, and have to sit my butt down on some warm bench.

Yeah, I'm usually the one in the front, since im the one who protests the least in regards to getting my clothes/belongings wet. Also i can't stand to have anyone blocking my face when posing for the camera.QuickGold wrote:Yep, if you sit front row and left side on Splash you will get soaked.Lion Sleeps Tonight wrote:Splash Mountain can get you very wet.
