one thing i learned while working there is that people feel since they spend so much money on a vacation they can check their manners at teh door. They throw garbage everywhere, including diapers...the msot disgusting thing to clean!!!

I guess I'm not quite sure what exactly you mean here... but everyone at a Disney park is absolutely owed "something"... we're owed a helluva lot! Those tickets are expensive!

What I was trying to say is some people think they are better than others and should be given better treatment than others.

I hate how nasty the bathroom is every time I go in there. It seems to be getting worse with consecutive trips. In addition, while I understand the plight of having a bunch of kids and the only adults with them being female, I don't believe that every young man should go with his mother into the ladies' room. I encountered a bunch of pre-teen boys in the ladies' room at SeaWorld and they thought it was hysterical to leave the stalls a mess. It completely grossed me out.

My other pet peeve is getting stuck in a ride vehicle with a bunch of teenagers who are unescorted. This happened to us on Splash Mountain. One of the girls in front of us kept switching which seat she wanted to sit in...DURING THE RIDE. Not only did she kept stepping on us or kicking us, she had us worried that she was going to fall out. Remember the guy who fell out on Splash Mountain and drowned?

Yes, that is true. Rowdy teenagers do detract from the experience. I once saw Security escorting a rowdy group of teenagers out of the park. At least they try to do away this problem.

If she was stepping on or kicking me, I think I might have helped her fall out. I wonder if they got 'talked to' at the end. I believe SM has the surveillance cameras on it like most of the other rides do. I've heard people being admonished to 'remain seated' on a bunch of different attractions over the PA.

I've heard this 3 out of the last 6 times I've gone on Pirates. I have to think that it's because some people aren't taking responsibility or being held accountable for their kids anymore. But I am the most cynical and crotechedy 24 year old you'll ever meet, so that could be the reason  .

Splash definitely has cameras everywhere. I was once stuck in a log with a bunch of unsupervised 12-year-olds who thought that a waterfight was the best idea on a log flume ride. They were spashing one another (and me), when our log came to a screeching halt and a voice crackled over the loudspeaker: "Please do not splash on Splash Mountain." That stopped them for a full minute!

My big pet peeve, however, has already been addressed - flash photography on dark rides. I get that people want a picture of ride elements - but don't they realize that all they'll end up with if they try to take a picture on POTC is a big gray square? The figures are too far away for the light to catch them in time for the shutter - you just get a big picture of noise. So not only are they interrupting my ride, but their doing it for a completely futile reason!

That bothers me too. The flash itself doesn't bother me so much, but it's the idea that they are told that there is no flash photography but use the flash anyways.

You and I are on the same wavelength here. I am already one of the those "old" guys that yells at kids for being idiots. I guess I just grew-up really fast. I'm 25 and believe that if the rule is don't stand up or no flash pictures that people should be abiding by that, otherwise get them out of the Parks!

One time I had a bunch of teenagers running through Indiana Jones and the temple of the forbidden Eye queue, I yelled out "don't run" but they kept running, of course. around the next corner there they were with one of them down on the ground, half crying by the way (wuss), because he hit his head on the rock formation.........DUH!!!!

But it does seem that on POTC it is much worse than any other ride. I have seen and heard more kids acting up on it than even HM (which also has a lot of people who act up too). The picture taking, the LOUD conversations with someone that is less than 2 ft away, the LOUD conversations on cell phones during the ride (can't wait until the ride is over to find out about your friends baby throwing up for the first time....), Splashing (can't forget your favorite activity from when you were a wee one), and more that I don't want to go into because I will be at this computer for atleast an hour.......[/short rant]

I find this very irritating on Soarin'. The flash goes off and the screen is bare for a second. One time, we had someone take a picture everytime the scene changed. It was the worst ride experience I've ever had. It's almost funny, some guest's stupidity. They actually think they've managed to take a picture of a projection with a flash?? :?

In this day and age, the flash thing is truly funny. I mean, when people were still using film cameras, and you couldn't preview the picture you just took, it would make some modicum of sense to take a whole slew of flash pictures, not knowing until they developed that they wouldn't turn out. But now, when you take a picture, it pops up on the little screen for you to see it (and delete it if necessary). Obviously, the people who continuously take pictures on dark rides are failing to look at the screen.

Look at the screen, people! Look at the screen!

At first I thought I misread the attraction. People were taking pictures of the movie? Who takes pictures of a movie?? I just ... *boggles*

I read an article (http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/devlin/11619) that Kodak has developed the technology for cameras to take pictures in dark areas without the need for a flash, and flash photography could be a thing of the past in the not too distant future. Could that eventually eliminate "no flash pictures please... we spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights" and other similar spiels?

Maybe they actually thought they were flying and werent looking at a screen? lol

Some people just take pictures of everything.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha
