Now, considering the fact there's no way to prove this thing is legit, it cracks me up that two people are bidding on it. I mean, I assume it probably is, and it's incredibly cheap at the moment, but still. This person is selling a light bulb too, and has sold a few other sequins already, looking at their sales history. I assume they must have wandered over to the junk heap where the bits were (as seen in that YouTube vid a while back); very enterprising. Fess up; it's one of us, isn't it?

Given the general attitude toward the wand by subsonic readers, I'm sure one of us'll have to snap it up too, so we can always remember the beloved structure.

I remember when Disney sold the lightbulbs from the Electrical Light Parade, when they first retired it. I kept asking my daughter, "How do we know these lightbulbs we bought were really from the parade? And not just from KMart?"

Hehehe - I never considered that. I would have had my eyes open for them too (probably to the annoyance of everyone I was with!).

Casrin - the stuff mouse surplus puts up occasionally makes me wish I had unlimited funds and space. I could totally see myself sitting here on my laptop, watching tv from inside a Horizons vehicle. They had a Mr. Toad's Wild Ride one a while back. That'd look great in my living room.

I feel like eBay seller "mousesurplus" is really legit. Anyone heard otherwise?

They list a lot of park props, resort furniture and cast member costume items all the time. I always wondered if it was all real, but I haven't heard of any issues.

I've purchased several things from mousesurplus without problems. I know some people have had issues with shipping from them (based on reading their feedback), but I've never heard of anyone claiming the goods weren't as advertised, myself. What they sent me was definitely legit (and so cool to have around the house ).

The goods are largely legit, but the people running the joint don't have the same reverence for Disney that we do. Shipping can be a problem (depending on the item), but even if you go to their showroom, most of the stuff is pre-damaged, and based on the way I saw the workers slinging stuff around, it's a fair bet that not all of the damage was caused before they got their hands on it.

They don't always have their facts straight, and while all the stuff does seem to come from Disney, it doesn't always come from the place they say it does. Many of the "facts" they post alongside the objects they have for sale are not accurate.

That said, if you know what you're looking for, are comfortable with a (usually) reasonable markup, and don't expect any of the stuff to be of pristine quality, they do deliver the goods...so to speak.

If you can get to their warehouse, I'd recommend doing so, since the shipping costs are high and you'll get a better sense of the condition of the item (and prevent the shippers from letting a clan of angry chimps have at the box with tree limbs before it reaches your doorstep). Also I'd recommend going when the weather is nice, because the warehouse is incredibly hot in the summer. (Note that all the stuff is stored in that heat as well, when you consider your purchases.)

Anyway, as I said, do you homework and don't take everything the employees say as gospel, but if you see something you recognize, it is most likely the real thing.

thanks for the info, captain schnemo. my hubby and i have bought quite a few things from mousesurplus, and we've been planning to go to their warehouse. good to know what to expect when we get there, more or less.
