I think it would be cool if they could keep the original version of Star Tours and have a new updated one, but then wouldn't you think everyone would be going on the new one?!?! I love this ride though. I'm torn, not sure if they should update it or just leave it alone. They definitely shouldn't get rid of this attraction.

They could have the passengers vote. "Interactive" is the new schtick and all.boilerbabe wrote:...wouldn't you think everyone would be going on the new one?!?!
I can see that creating a lot of problems, though. Maybe just everyone lines up for their destination and they change the programming of each shuttle as necessary.

This is a great idea! They could even put a voting keypad in for each rider. Then the destination would be up to the popular vote.madcrazy235 wrote:it would be awesome if they could update star tours AND keep the original one. i like the idea of choosing you own tour. that would be awesome. keep us updated on what happens, if any new information is released.

The voting thing used to work in Horizons, but that was only between (usually up to) 4 people in the same party. Being the cynical thing I am, I suspect if you put a full Star Tours car of (largely) strangers, and had them vote, there'd be people complaining all the time that their route didn't get picked and how it ruined their vacation because Timmy wanted to go to Hoth and they can't ride again because they have to get to Fantasmic and they're pretty sure the other voters were cheating, entitlement, general obnoxiousness, blah blah blah. Seems like it'd be a big headache for them.
On the other hand, at least as I understand it, you get to vote for your path in the Indiana Jones ride at DL right? I've never been on it; I assume the cars are CoE sized so there's a bunch of passengers. Do you really vote, and does it really count? Maybe I'm not giving people enough credit for being able to play nicely together. The number of people I saw having absolute tantrums in December because people in wheelchairs/scooters were getting on the bus first has jaded me, I admit.
The idea of random rides is cool though. Even if it was just 4 different sequences or something, it'd be neat to be surprised by which one you were on (sort of like the great movie ride, though that's not much of a surprise). And it'd give some incentive to ride again to 'collect them all'.

I almost wish that there was a ride-through deal for Star Wars, like a ride-through that takes you through the original Death Star in Episode IV with the storm troopers chasing you and Obi Wan battling Darth Vader. Personally, I was a little disappointed the first time that I rode Star Tours and discovered it was a simulator. I just feel that there is so much more that they could do with it.
