Better than that was once you were seated and ready to go, you would hear from afar, bang bang bang bang bang getting closer and closer as the castmember would basiclaly hold there arm straight out and walk the length of the train slamming the doors shut.
That brought back a flood of memories...I know the new method is much more efficient, but memories of those noises occupy a special place in my brain.

Luckily, it's not the same place that stores the location of my car keys, and is in no danger of being overwritten...

Ahh, urban legends. Great article!

I really do wish they would expand the monorail. It gets more expensive every year (and that million dollar mile is pretty amusing) so I say put it in now! I'd love to ride the highway in the sky to every park.
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

We've never stayed at a Monorail resort, and have only taken it twice (once just for the experience, and once to get to Chef Mickey's). But, I think it would be a wonderful way to get from resorts to parks, etc.

I've been on the one in Vegas many times, and even though it is relatively inexpensive, it can be quite crowded and quite inconvenient.

Interesting article. Thanks for the link!

We always make sure to ride the monorail once on every trip. It turned into a sort of tradition.

Although not in the article itself, I found the info about the fire interesting. I never knew about that. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Aside from the negative aspect of the cost of a mile of monorail track, Disney-style monorail systems are really a great design. Though the monorail's at Disney World have a 40 MPH speed limit, Bombardier, the manufacturers of the Mark VI monorail, claims the top speed is around 100 MPH. When you consider how quiet the trains are, how efficient they are, and how small the on-ground footprint of the track is compared to traditional train rails, it is no wonder why so many cities around the world are contemplating building Disney-style monorail transit systems.

I've enjoyed his Urban Legends columns. Very interesting reading. These are the kinds of things I could read about all day.
