Lights, Motors, Action! and New York Street

Post by G2-4T » Jan Sun 16, 2005 11:15 am

More info from my trip down to the parks... The new stunt show is going to have soft openings in a couple months it sounds like and they were testing hard last week. The cars were going through drills and the motorcycles arrived on Monday and started road tests the same day (I saw them that day - they are a bit more like dirt bikes than motor cycles). The theatre set and grand stand are huge! It also looks really good - the new routing for the ever shortening Backstage Tour goes around the set and gives a very good view of the new show.

Also - there will be no replacing of Indy with a DL style ride any time soon according to cast members there. There are a large number of gas, water, and electrical lines all around the current area that would make it very expensive to even change the current stage let alone put in a new ride. Besides, it is still drawing hefty crowds when I was there [and this is serious off season for their crowds!] so why change what isn't broke?

While in the area the new SF street is looking sharp, Chicago isn't done yet. NY Street no longer has the construction walls up but SF did for Osborne Lights removal and Chicago was totally blocked off. And the rebuilding of the NY St. and general clean-up looks sharp, they definately added new speakers and worked on the sound system so you can once again hear the buses and cars and general downtown "noise" better.

Soft opening will probably be sometime in March.

Also the Stunt Show has a new sponsor, Brawny Paper Towels.

Yeah - that'd be the idea, though sometimes they only do soft openings a few days a week and work out bugs the other days, etc. So check when you are there for a schedule. And tell us how it is if you get to see it.

According to my inside Backlot Tour sources (not as strong as they used to be but still pretty good) if your heading down their in late March you will get to see the Stunt Show, but dont forget this particular show will only run 2-3 times a day so if you want to stake out a spot I would get their early as the Studios likes to close most of its entertainment attractions as early as possible in the day (a problem that I wish they would address as I got awful tired of taking guest complaints that show ended so soon, oh well) Also from what I have heard all these new attractions at WDW (Soarin, Cinderella show, and Motors) are scheduled to be officially open on Disneyland's 50th and my guess is that a lot of test and adjust will go on for this show considering its not a push button type thing like Soarin (Yes I know rides are more difficult to run than that I am just trying to make a point)
