I know that this was posted on before, but I'm not as good as JS to be able to find the post where it was mentioned. :mickey: Haha.

hey, I resemble that remark! and I believe the thread you're referring to is this one.

even though I've never been out there to the west coast, I think this was a bad idea. Didn't they complete a total refurb of the penthouse suite at the Disneyland Hotel? possibly named the Mickey Mouse Penthouse? Even under Eisner, I don't think they'd be THAT stupid, but I have been known to be wrong before...

I loved the gallery, also. It is sad to remove something many people enjoyed to put in something so few will.

They did do a penthouse in the Californian Hotel. The Redo of Walts apartment is in New Orleans Square. My understanding is that is will be available for 2008, and the extension of YOM. That way the west coasters will also be able to actually stay in the park like the Castle Suite at the Magic Kingdom.

It does look very nice from what I've seen so far, but I'll always miss the Disney Gallery. It was one of my favorite hidden spots in Disneyland. Are they planning on offering the room as a prize for the 2008 year then?

Yep that was the whole point originally, but I do think later they will make it available to celebrities and other "VIP" guests. This is just a guess right now but it would fall right in line with what Disney has done in the past.

Right next door to Club 33

Post by Club33Fan » Oct Sat 27, 2007 6:46 pm

I'll miss the Disney Gallery too... it's getting harder and harder to get Disney artwork in Disneyland. I guess there's more money in plush toys and such. Too bad. But, the commercials they're currently running show a really beautiful apartment, and the balcony where you used to be able to have dessert and watch Fantasmic appears to be part of the apartment now. One wonders if the lucky folks who win a stay in the apartment will also be given a nice dinner at Club 33, next door?!?

Slightly off topic here, but dinner in Club 33 would be a fantastic prize! Not that I wouldn't love a stay in the new apartment, but I wouldn't be able to sleep anyhow. Too much excitement and I've heard it gets super noisy at night. But dinner at Club 33, now that would be great.

Man, the Gallery was always a nice place to hang out and relax for a bit...

Have to wonder how well that room will work out - from the sounds of it the main path below turns into a mini-highway at night with everything from rebuilt airport baggage carts to 18-wheelers going by to drop off supplies and more to different corners of the park nightly. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll turn it back to the Gallery after this looney Year of Million Dreams Pt. 2 is done.

I'm going to assume that just for that one night or how ever many times that prize will be handed out they will stop all that work in that area and leave the show lights on so it looks nice. I'm pretty sure they will do that, I don't think the park will fall apart after missing only one night of madness.

I kinda doubt that they're going to rearrange their well synch'd after dark show just for one family. And I have to imagine that they will want to have that room occupied as many nights as they can to make it worth all the money they are sinking into it.

I'm not the only one that thought about this when it was announced:

That's actually really funny. I really didn't think about all the after hours noise that goes on. Not much fun to stay in a nice luxurious suite if you don't get any sleep! That's cool though that a few hundred AP's will get the chance to take a tour of the place. I can cross my fingers that we'll get that chance.

I wish they did not have to remove the Disney Gallery. Now only Disneylands wealthy visitors will have a chance to see Walts Appartment. I think that is a shame.
