we switched to artificial a couple of years ago, after the price of the real ones got to be a bit too high. that and we don't need to clean up the needles every couple of days. to make it seem real, we found the AIR WICK Evergreen Essence scent. Smells just like the real thing...
we have a 7' in the living room, and a smaller 3',5" - 4' fiber-optic in the dining room (table centerpiece).

We used to go cut our own.
Then we started going to ready cut lots. The prices got so high and the trees seemed to dry out so fast and we always seemed to end up with bugs in the house. So we gave up and now have our fake tree. I actually like it but do miss the smell. I may try that air scent that seems like a good idea.

it really works well. I highly recommend it (and am glad I was able to find it a could of years ago). it's especially good in our house, as where the tree usually sits, there's a cold air return for the furnace. so, when the furnace kicks on, it spreads the scent throughout the house.disneylandmom wrote: I may try that air scent that seems like a good idea.

We have Artificial trees in the house. My DW breaks out if we get a real tree. It's to bad, I really enjoy a fresh tree. Oh well, I still get to decorate the one's in the yard.

We've been using an artificial tree forever. The only real reason being that it's less mess. I do kind of wish we could have gone to cut our own tree and bring it back home. It seems like it would have made great childhood memories... oh well

We've been using evergreen scented candles ever since we got our dog a few years ago. It works pretty well depending on the brand (yankee candle is the best). Our tree is in front of a bay window so we put a few along the ledge behind the tree. I guess you have to be a candle person thoughWell I just was reading the site for the Evergreen air scent, and unfortunately I can't have one in my home. The site says it isn't good around sensitive pets like birds and we have a parakeet. I thought that would be so nice. Oh well

I have had an artificial tree since 2001 and don't see any reason to change. My parents used to have a real tree, back when I was a kid but I never liked them. I prefer trees to be on the outside of the house, not the inside. I still haven't been convinced about those pre-lit trees yet, I want to see some in LED form before I decide to get one of them. As it stands I have a 7' 2" Madison Fir.
Ok who has seen those stupid upside down trees?

Artificial here. Love the less mess.
But, love the real thing.
Bath and Body has a great smelling pine sent this year, candle, oil burner, or plug in, if anyone was looking for a sent. I love this store too!

Artificial for me - real trees are verboten in any apartment complex I've lived in. My parents always had (several) artificial trees when I was growing up so it's not that big a change/let down for me, but I did like real trees the few years we had them when I was a kid. Love the smell of real (but can now achieve the same thing with a mistletoe candle from Yankee
).
I'm surprised, too, as most of our friends get a live tree - but a lot of people are moving towards articifical. We have two amazingly lifelike prelit artificial trees that are hard to distinguish as fake.danimal3114u wrote:I'm surprised there are so many artificial tree fans here, I never realized that they were (apparently) more popular than real trees. We always get the real tree in my house, although growing up we did a fake tree half the years and a real tree the other half.
By the way - one of my best friends just went to artificial this year after a spider's nest hatched in their live tree last year and they had millions of baby spiders in their family room!
