I'm sooooo excited about seeing this in person. I've heard the decorations overall in the MK (and other parks) are top notch this year too. Can't wait!

i have given this much thought, and even though i do like the decorations all over the parks, I dislike the lights on the castle. There are too many religions in the world to do this I feel. Disney does a horible job at showing the other holidays that occur during this time frame. You can find a few menorahs in the upper windows down mainstreet, a house decorated in blue/white lights at the osbourne lights at the studios(which are done in christmas lights), and a story at teh American pavillion on hanukkah and kwannza in Epcot. The castle always was neutral which I found great because little kids of different faiths could still look at it in it's natural state. When I was younger my parents wouldn't take me to teh parks during holiday time because of this. They felt disrespected. Now that I am grown up I do appreciate other faiths and I have a very open mind, but I can see where a religous family that doesn't celebrate christmas would be upset about hearing christmas music, and have decorations thrown in their face walking around ever corner. I know I am a major minority here being Jewish, but I did want to say my piece. With that said, I do love MVMCP, I went last year with my fiance and we had an amazing time. I lvoe all the themeing that goes on, and we even bought blue/white ornaments for our hannukah bush. The chrstmas store even sold jewish lights!!! I just wanted to say I fel that puting lights oin the castle took everything a bit too far, whats next? ornaments on the tree of life?

Since when did lights become striclty chrismas? Isn't hanukkah the "festival of lights"? :?

As for ornaments on the tree of life... part of me thinks that would be really neat if done correctly with ornaments relating to all religions. The other part of me is yelling "cake!" "wand!" "hat!".

I went over to MK tonight to see the lights, and overall I wasn't enthralled by them but I also don't dislike them either. They work nicely with the Wishes finale, but other than that I don't think they are that big a deal. You really can't see the lights during the day though, which is nice.

Don't forget Diwali (also a 'festival of lights') and Kwanzaa - those both do things with lights. Sorry Yodi, I don't think twinkle lights on the castle automatically = Castle o' Christianity. I feel sorry for people who'd want to miss out on all the other things WDW has to offer in the 'holiday season' (as you mentioned; many other faiths are represented at Epcot during this time, for instance) just because they can't get past so-called Christmas music and the like.

I can't wait to see this! It looks amazing in the photos alone. Now just imagine what it must look like in person. I cant! I have to see them.

I agree with those that say it really gets the Christmas heart pumping. Disney is amazing. Granted there are a lot of problems, sure. But its that feeling they give you when you walk in, especially around the Christmas season, as they celebrate by decorating that makes Disney the magical place there is.

Keep this in mind. For those of us with American pride do we not still say the U.S. is the best place to live? Well, what about all the problems? Does that take aways from the spirit of freedom? So why should the little problems take away from the magic of Disney.

You Go Disney! I'm ready for Ol' St. Nick now!

Beautiful! Reminds me of the ice castles that have been part the St. Paul winter carnival. As for the Christmas issue, to me it says "winter" more than Christmas. After all, Christmas was originally celebrated on December 25 to take the place of the pagan winter solstice celebration, and there are still many Christmas traditions that have more to do with the solstice than with Christianity (holly, mistletoe, evergreens, yule logs, exchanging gifts, feasting). So to this northerner, the castle says: light up the darkness and celebrate winter.

wow. great video find. from the vantage point, it does look like the castle is covered in snow and capped with ice (except a bit too bright to be real, obviously). very nicely done

I said plenty of good things in what i wrote, i even said i LIKED most of the decorations!.. I have read many of your posts jacca and I know how much Christmas means to you. I am entitled to my opinion. I do have to say though, unless you meant it sarcastically I did find your use of the word "oy" as a slap in the face. I would never take a shot at another persons religion, and didn't think I would find that na community like this.
