I feel exactly the same way! My first and last attraction is always SE. What will I do on my next trip!

On the other hand, I'm happy to see they are going all out to refurb SE!

SE was closed when we went last month. My daughters and I felt the void not being able to experience SE, so I feel the pain of those who have made travel plans based on the rehab being finished.

But, I can hardly wait to hear more details!

You know, my wife and I are among those with plans to go in December... but we definitely didn't plan our trip around the fact that SSE would be open. I would never plan a trip to WDW... which is 3000 miles away... that hinged on a certain ride being open, because you just never know what will happen.

SSE if my favorite ride at Epcot, and I really was looking forward to seeing the new and improved version. We won't be back for a couple years at the earliest, so it is a bummer.

But last time we went (2005), Expedition Everest wasn't open... nor was the Nemo Seas ride or the Nemo show in DAK (and we're BIG Nemo fans), El Rio del Tiempo bored us (though I'm not sure I'll like the duckified version, either) and It's A Small World was closed for refurbishment... there's the new Haunted Mansion changes to check out, the moviefied version of PotC (though I've seen DL's treatment many times by now)... and for whatever reason, last time we were there, we did not make a major effort and therefore missed out on seeing The American Adventure. Baffling.

That's the best part about WDW... if you go as infrequently as we do (every couple/few years), there is ALWAYS something new. I was just hoping for this particular something new.

Yeah, it was bad that it was down cause I took a family with two children with me that had never been to WDW. I so wanted the boys to ride it, but unfortunately it was down. However, the ride did need some updating so I can't wait to see what happens.

I can't imagine EPCOT without SE. I'm glad I don't have a trip planned in the near future. Hope the final refurb is worth the wait.

Don't know why that's true, but it is; I love a British accent (or Scottish or Irish, for that matter). My teenaged daughter is the same. For me, it doesn't matter if it's male or female; I just find the accent very comforting and pleasant. I listen to the BBC a lot, when I'm not listening to SR.

Man, I'm bummed about this. We were just talking over the weekend about planning a January trip and then I checked out the rehab list and found SSE. No!!!! This is always the first and last thing I ride at WDW. I would rather go and miss it than not go at all though. It would be myself and my soon to be wife who has never been to any Disney park! I hate not being able to introduce her to SSE but I suppose the greater good is that it is finally getting some attention from Disney.

I'm not given any specifics, but I'm told the up grades are amazing!! Disney is really doing this one right. Still no word on who is doing the voice over.

I hope the refurbishment is just that . . .

Post by Leigh » Nov Tue 13, 2007 1:02 pm

I just hope they don't change it too much.

The health care/equipment company Siemmens (sp?) is the new sponsor. I sat for a long time with a sleeping two year old in the space where the ride dumps you off. It looked nicely done but not interesting really, medical stuff like "will your mirror be a new health care scanner in the future?" I really don't want to be thinking about health care when I am in Disney World -- I want to escape that stuff.

Jeremy Irons

Post by Leigh » Nov Tue 13, 2007 4:38 pm

I just loved Jeremy Irons narrating in SSE -- so ethereal, spacey, otherwordly -- I thought he was perfect! Dare I say it ?!. . . better than Cronkite. I wish they wouldn't replace him.

Of course my sister remembers being mad about Cronkite being replaced so sometimes change is good. I guess. :?
