We have stayed at POR(DL) 3 times and it's still our fav. Been to Poly. and Beach Club and they were great but, POR is still ours. Probably cause it was our first time on property but, every time we plan a trip it's on our list .
we were in the mansions twice and bayou once, mansions are better and the walking paths are nice in the evening. the boat to downtown is relaxing and as packwingfn will agree. after a day in the parks nothing compares to a drink in the lounge singing along with Bob Jackson

My DW love PO! I've never been. I figure it's something we'll have to do together.

The boat ride goes to POFQ then take you buy the treehouses( Disney Instute) and by Saratoga springs. its about 15 min and brings you to downtown.

Epcot and MGM are short rides by bus and MK is short because the bus does not stop at other resorts.
The main pool is open late just no LifeGuards( they really never kick you out)

They have times marked as what time they open but as long as they aren't cleaning them go for it. :D

well any hotel will take some time to get to the parks. I find the PO is close to all with the exception of AK. About 10-15 when you board.

I just recently came back from WDW about a week ago and if you aren't really into the Port Orleans area I'd suggest Saratoga Springs. That is where I stayed and loved every minute of it.

Riverside rules

I have stayed in PO Riverside many times. I love it! I love the super large dining area, the pools are awesome (many quiet pools) and the store is great. It has four bus stops -- try and go to the main one b/c you have a better chance of getting a seat.

I like the Bayou side (although it is confusing) but recently switched to the Mansion side. They are really nice rooms -- all of them -- and the setting is beautiful. The horse and buggy are a nice touch as they clip-clop by in the evening. Very charming . . . sigh -- wish I was there. You can also take a boat to Port Orleans French Quarter or walk over there and check out their Dining Area and pools.
