New resort

Post by marje97a » Oct Thu 11, 2007 8:10 am

Just announced in Orlando on 10/04/2007- There will be a new resort with a Hiwaiian theme to be built on property. They anticipate that it will bring in about 1000 new jobs. No word on the expected date of opening or where it will be located on the property.

i guess the polynesian isn't enough? i think a european themed hotel would have been better. but then again they are the ones who make the money so i'm sure they know what they are doing.....like Disney America...laugh

I believe marje is a bit mistaken. There's not a new Hawaiian themed hotel on property but a new Disney hotel in Hawaii. From my site: Walt Disney Parks & Resorts announced that the company has finalized plans to purchase 21 acres of oceanfront property on Hawaii's island of Oahu. The resort is scheduled to open in 2011 and will include hotel rooms and DVC villas. "Disney and Hawaii have something special in common, and that is the recognition of the importance of 'ohana,'" said Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle. "We are pleased that a company known for providing families with a way to spend quality time together is investing in Hawaii."

I apparently didn't keep a link but a google search should provide information becuase it's been in just about every google alert I get for a while.

Hope that helps a bit.

Right - Disney is building DVC in Hawaii. The next DVC at WDW will likely be the Contemporary.

Actually, the Hawaii resort will be a standard several hundred room resort but it will also have DVC villas. If they can.... I seem to remember reading something recently about Hawaiin folks having to go to the mainland to buy timeshares in Hawaii. Something about the local regulations. Don't remember anything else about it though. Anyone else remember?
