So since we are in the off topic threads....where else did you go this year?

Here's a few pics from my day at Devil's Tower. Two weeks ago

I always like to see the opposite view of things...so this is looking away from the tower.

Nice pics! I went there as a kid (South Dakota, Wyoming, etc).

I haven't really gone anywhere but to family's house for a 25th wedding anniversary party! I'm hoping that my life, Mom's life and my friend's life all work out so that we can go to Halloweekends at Cedar Point in a couple weeks...

Beautiful pics, Croaker. :)

I haven't been anywhere this year. Or last year actually... that's depressing. But WDW in December's right around the corner. :mickey:

Northeast Cornor of Wyoming about 30 miles from the boarder of South Dakota. this is the latest thought on how it was formed....first they thought it was an old volcano that the lava cooled and later erosion took away the excess...now they think it was a shaft or vent of a volcano(not the center but the side) and erosion removed the rest from around the area thus leaving it a tower. The indians have a legend of a gigantic Bear chasing 7 maidens who took refuge on top and the bear clawed away the sides. its quite the site to see.

Cool pics. In response to your question (where did i go?) i went to Cedar Point, an Amusement park in Sandusky Ohio. Sure i would've liked to revisit Disney world, but Cedar Point has 17 of the biggest fastest Roller Coasters. While i really enjoyed their new roller coaster Maverick, i think my favorite was Top Thrill Dragster, with a launch that shoots you to a top speed of 120 mph, and a height of 420 feet, i'd have to say it was quite a thrill...

Well unfortunately if you want to go on all the big roller coasters you will have to wait in long lines (sometimes around 2 hours, and most of the lines are out in the sun so you'll want to remember to bring water with you, cause unfortunately they charge an arm and a leg), but i'm sure it depends on what time of the year you go, we went in early august, i wondered if earlier in the season like may or later like september may have been better, but i can't say for sure. Since the rides take a long time to get through, i would suggest multiple days if you go, we went there two days, which i didn't think was enough because we didn't get to re-ride anything and also didn't get to ride all the rides, but there are a lot of other things to do there too! there are shows, a water park called soak city and a mini golf coarse, and the resort hotel is right on the beach of lake Erie, so you could also enjoy going to the beach. So anyways, there is a lot to do (and also seasonal celebrations), and to do it all (or even most of it) you will need several days, but even despite the lines, it is a very enjoyable visit...

I'm sure you've already been to the website, but there is more info there if you're interested....Hope this helped!

last time I was at CP was back in like 1995-1996 before they really started building more coasters. at the time, they had maybe 6 or 7, but not as many as they have now. we could easily do the park in 1 day, maybe two at the outside. now, I believe it's up to a 3 or 4 day stay, especially to re-ride. lines are as long as most Disney parks, as hawkeye said.

Since I got married back in May, we did take our honeymoon then... 3 days in Disneyland, then 11 days on Maui, staying first in a condo in Honokowai, then spending the last three nights at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. Unfortunately I have almost no pics from the trip :(

We also spent Labor Day Weekend in Mendocino at our friend's parents' house out there. Gorgeous house right on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. Got some pics of that, will try to track them down to share. That was awesome too because the couple we went up there to spend the weekend with got engaged right before we arrived! Good times!

This summer I've been to Disneyland twice.

Then I spent two weeks on Oahu visiting family friends and relatives. We ate and ate and ate.

I don't think I have any pics, but I might.

We visited CP last summer (2006) and spent 3 days there and were able to ride everything mulitple times and spend almost a full day in the waterpark. I'd recommend staying onsite at the Breakers or Sandcastle Suites (where we stayed). It's a fantastic ride park - Dragster is quite amazing, along with the other coasters they have.

I went to Key West for a wedding in March, SoCal for DLR and Knott's in June, and Wisconsin to visit relatives in July. You guys can probably guess which was my favorite.

Also I'd have to agree that 3 days is pretty much the perfect amount of time for Cedar Point. It'll give you a chance to ride everything more than once without running yourself ragged in the process. I want to get back there next summer as I haven't been there since 2004.
