Disney to Build Resort in Hawaii
Moderator: Moderators
I posted the following this morning in the Around the World forum - let's hope this is true!!
The Walt Disney Co. could announce as soon as this week that it is looking to build a resort on Oahu, according to KITV sources.
Disney plans to build a hotel in Ko Olina.
Sources told KITV Disney is looking at undeveloped land on the Diamond Head side of the Ihilani Resort and Spa. That is where sources said Disney would build its own resort or condos with direct access to Lagoons one and two at Ko Olina.
"We've got nothing to announce today, and that the company is not confirming the speculation," Walt Disney Parks and Resorts spokeswoman Lisa Haines said.
Haines refused to go into further detail. However, she did elaborate on the company's business approach.
"We look at many geographies, and clearly Hawaii is an attractive market, but we look at many geographies as we think about ways to grow our business," Haines said.

Sounds good, but the real question is will it be a cruise destination too????? I have heard talk of that for years now, having something like the Island in the Caribbean.

A cruise around Hawaii's Islands sounds quite good with start and stop at the resort. Galapagos Islands at a stretch.Dr. Ravenscroft wrote:Sounds good, but the real question is will it be a cruise destination too????? A cruise to Hawaii...from where? Ft Lauderdale? Long time on a boat that even if you do go through Panama.
A resort without a Park........not for me thanks anyway.
Thanks to bdinger for the link.

If one of the boats was permanently relocated to the west coast it'd be doable. There are other lines that cruise from SoCal to Hawaii (it'd be on the long side for a Disney Cruise though.)Joe90 wrote:A cruise around Hawaii's Islands sounds quite good with start and stop at the resort. Be interesting to see if this pans out. I bet Disney could make a fantastic 'just resort', but part of the reason I'm willing to pay so much (comparatively) for Disney hotels is because I have those park-access perks. Dunno if I'd be willing to do it elsewhere.
