Do you know if Splash is just regular maintenance or if it's getting an upgrade? Thanks for the advanced notice!

Hahaha ... when I first read that I thought they were going to be closed for a year. Splash I can see taking that long to change around but Snow White?

Sounds like the usual time of year for Splash refurb, anyway. They seem to always do it in the colder months after the Christmas rush is done. It'd be nice if it was getting an upgrade, though.

By the looks of the length I would say it is just maintenance. It will only be down for a month, the Haunted Mansion was down for what like 4 months.

Yep that is what I was going to say. 6 weeks give or take, isn't really enough time but to give the set pieces a good cleaning and replace anything that is has gotten to the end of it's lifecycle.

last December it seemed like it could use a fresh coat of paint in a few spots as well. just enough time to do a good job with that, and get the paint fumes out of the indoor areas...

I think January is its usual time. I seem to recall it being down in Jan 04 when I was there for my birthday too. I guess not as many people want to get splashed in the winter.

I believe they actually shut down Splash every January - February. It's got so many AAs that needs to be maintained, not to mention the many lifts on the ride running continuously throughout the day, motors and gears geting wet all the time...

I have actually been thinking of planning a trip in January but it sounds like so many of my favorites would be closed that I might postpone. I just prefer to go during off peak months but I suppose that is the trade off for lower crowds is the closure and maintenance of some attractions.

My family and I were at WDW in Jan. '05 to run the marathon, sure some of the attractions are down but the weather is great and crowds are so thin! It was wonderful. I would recommend going in Jan. :)

I went in February once and it really was nice to not bake all day. We wore jeans and sweatshirts. I tried shorts one day and regretted it!

Good thing for the Splash Rehab., it's getting just as bad as HM was. Lots of audio and animatronics not working lately, and the speaker in the birdhouse on the top of the mountain has been crackly for almost two years now.

I read somewhere that something like 70% of the speakers in MK are originals (as in were there opening day, and haven't been replaced).
