Hey, welcome, Bullwinkle!

That's really amazing that you were able to actually work for Disney as an Imagineer. I'm currently a senior illustration major and this is actually my dream job at the moment. I know it'll be a long road, but I'm determined to make it in one day. I'd be interested in your experiences or any tips you have for people interested in this profession!

Since you'd worked on EPCOT, I should point you to nancynohorse's post about EPCOT and Figment and how my brother was inspired to fight and live with his cancer after first seeing Figment back in 1987: viewtopic.php?t=2858&highlight=

I spent alot of time with Figment back then. I am touched, that he was inspiring to your brother, and I know that figment is too. My best to your family.

OK, a quick dumb story. Late one night (graveyard shift) a bunch of us were in the haunted mansion trying out a couple of new things. The ride was off and we were in the the ballroom scene. Some maintenance guys (@ the control console),
who didn't know we were there, turned on the attraction for maintenance reasons. The place went pitch black and everything came to life. Now some may think the haunted mansion might be pretty tame, but to six Imagineers at two in the morning!
We trampled each other on our way out.

P.S. It's pretty scary at 2 am when it's off!

Assuming some of you guys are cast members, specifically WDW, anyone ever go to the "Big Bamboo" ?

Ohhh, that's too wild with the Haunted Mansion, Bullwinkle!

I'm Nancy - it was my daughter who linked you the story about my son and Figment. Hey, you wouldn't happen to have, or know how to acquire, the audio to "Capture A Smile" would you? After Erik had died, Bob G from Kodak and Tony had placed Erik's picture into "Capture A Smile" so that he'd always be at JII. We'd love to be able to listen to that audio again.

Outside of this site, another good place for ex-Disney people is Re-Imagineering. It is more of a blog, that is run by former Imagineers, but you can get into the conversation through the comments section. Whether or not you comment, it's always a good read.

Ok, another story. Back when Epcot first opened, they had cleared out alot of land.
With that in mind.....
One night, after closing (graveyard shift), a couple of maintenance guys from "The Land" thought it would be funny to remove a fiberglass alligator from the attraction and put it into the communicore fountain. The walkie talkies went nuts and to be honest alot of people were not amused.
About a month later, a real alligator got into the fountain. Maintenance thought that it was a repeat of the same practical joke. Imagine the look on the guys face when he reached into the fountain to remove the "fake", only to get snapped at by the real thing!

Sounds like something that I would have done. Although I would have put a speaker with a sound track in it that would sound like growling and hissing.
