Dr. Ravenscroft, yes i completely agree! I still am trying to figure out how I will be spending these days being that it will be my first time. Im probably going to be going on a lot of rides and sit down places would definitely take away from my time there. Im also considering maybe getting a few days instead of all 7 days. I have a lot to consider before making my choice.

Well at Disney they are called Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs). And you pretty much have to make them to get Table service.
As far as whats good? My wife and I like
Nice Table Service: Citrico's and Cal Grill
Buffett: Boma
Steak: Yachtsman
Character: Crystal Palace (Pooh and Friends)

Ive also heard a lot about the sci-fi diner and the audio track on here sounds really cool! So, i should try to hit that up as well.
I'm not fond of the Sci-Fi... It's not bad... Just doesn't stand out. And the trailers loop is too short. I've seen the whole trailer loop 2-3 times in a single meal.
Rose and Crown is a great place to watch Illuminations from, but as for the food. My wife loves the Fish and Chips, but they are the same as you get from the counter service, the difference is the counter service doesn't come with mussy peas.
I'm already post what I think of Boma, Yummy.

Hey Bill, the one stipulation of the plan is that Disney does require you get it for each night of your stay and the credits are good through midnight on checkout day. So for 6 nights you'd have to have 6 days of the meal plan. Just another thing to consider in the big mix.

Oh, okay. Thats no problem steve. I totally thought you could pick and choose how many you want. Its sounding like theres a lot of great places to eat at for table service. This Boma place sounds really good. Isnt that at Animal Kingdom Lodge? What do they serve for the buffet...is it breakfast?

I think it would be fantastic if Disney permitted people to choose how many days they wanted for dining. It's worth letting guest services know for the future!
Boma has a great breakfast - more traditional fare (if you like coffee, get the pressed pot!), but it's dinner that makes it so amazing - here's a typical menu (subject to change):
African Breads
Mixed Field Greens:
Mango Vinaigrette, Paw Paw Vinaigrette,
Chili Cilantro Vinaigrette, Balsamic Vinaigrette
Potato Salad
Fresh Fruit
Pasta Salad
Watermelon Rind Salad
Kool Slaai
Chicken Salad with Chili Cilantro
Moroccan Seafood Salad - Couscous, mussels, scallops and shrimp
Avocado, Grapefruit, Papaya, Curry Cucumber Salad, Spinach and Beet Salad
Macaroni and Cheese
Saffron Rice
African Soups and Stews:
Chicken Corn Porridge
Smoked Tomato Soup
Sweet Potato Pancakes
Vegetable Lentil Kofta
Pap
Braised Greens
FuFu
Potatoes with Afritude
Durban Spiced Roasted Chicken
Malabu Pepper Steak
Grilled Seafood
Wood Roasted Meats
Vegetable Skewers
Chicken Pepper Pot
Coconut Curried Chicken Soup
Curried Coconut Seafood Stew
Couscous Marrakesh
Chicken Tenders
Spaghetti and Meatballs
Wonderful Dessert Buffet including:
Zebra Domes
Simba Paw Prints

I've used the Dining Plan a couple of times and I love it.
On a one week trip with my family (2 adults and 4 children) with free dining, our food receipts came to $1,642. On a 4 night long weekend with my husband our food recipts were $657 and we paid a little less than $320.
I'd say that if you go without the Dining Plan you're probably going to regret the decision.

Thanks for that Leighann, you guys are really making my decision easier and easier.
Steve, that Boma menu for dinner looks amazing!! Im really looking forward to trying out the african breads, soup, and stews. That coconut curried chicken stew sounds great too. Anything with curry gets my attention

Really? You're spending between 1:30 and 2:15 eating? The loop is 45 minutes long! Get back out into the park!

Yep typically we sit down for about 90 minutes. Taking a break in the shade.
As I recall the service was sorta slow when we where there.
As for Boma, the Dinner is MUCH better than the breakfast. The breakfast is more or less standard american fare. We don't do breakfast at Boma, unless we are heading to Gainesville (it's on the way out of town.)

going through my receipts from the trip we took in December 2006, I came to the conclusion that we spent about $15.00 per day on food in the parks, doing all snacks or counterservice places. Average price of the counter service we got was about $10.00 per meal. As we were camping, we went and bought some food at the local Publix for about $30.00 which helped save some money in the long run. I'd like to try some of the table service places on my next visit so I think I'm going to opt for the DDP. Let me know how it works out for you...
