Buzz vs. Buzz
I've been on the WDW Buzz Lightyear ride, but have not been on the Disneyland one. Can those who have been on both compare/contrast the two? One of the differences that I'm aware of is how the laser guns are attached to the ride vehicle. I found the WDW's version sort of cumbersome, how you always had to keep the ride vehicle pointed in the direction of the target (because of the limited movement of the gun). I found when I was able to hit a high point target, I was only able to do so for a very limited time before having to rotate the car and re-aim.
Other than that small quirk, it was a fun ride that my daughter and I enjoyed riding several times.

the only difference i know of that actually affects the ride is that AstroBlasters (at DL) has corded guns, whereas Space Ranger Spin (at WDW) has guns attached to the ride vehicle, as you mentioned... other than that they're essentially the same ride, though targets and such are in different places, and the track is not a direct copy or anything.

I can't compare to Disneyland Resort, but I can compare to Disneyland Paris. The biggest differences I could spot are that the guns in Paris aren't fixed to the car like they are in WDW, they're on a cord and you can pick them up and hold them where you like.
Also, the targets in Paris have LEDs all around them that change colour when they're hit and nobody else can hit them for a few seconds after that (thus stopping you from repeatedly hitting the same target over and over)
There were others, but those are the ones that stick in my mind.

Re: Buzz vs. Buzz
OK, where to start........first the WDW version since it was the first. It has nothing but circle targets, which most of the targets are worth the same amount of points 100 points.........BUT there are a few that are worth WAY more than that you have to find them though. There is a video room, a room that has two targets in and they project a video of ZURG going to each of the targets. This effect works only slightly, I say that because most people I see never even hit the targets even once. The biggest difference is in the layout. It has been a while since I last rode the WDW version so I can't give you exacts on this one but I can tell you that the Zurg Characters are different there are a couple pictures of him below. Oh and the Guns are attached to the Omni-mover via a ball socket.FlyingMouse wrote:I've been on the WDW Buzz Lightyear ride, but have not been on the Disneyland one. Here are a few pictures of WDW version:

The Disneyland version is, in my opinion better (because it is more difficult). As you and others have said the guns are different, they are attached to the omni-mover via a cable that allows the user to move the gun in any direction and up to 15"-18" up or down or in any direction you want. This allows for a more natural aiming rather than having to lean down to aim.
The targets are different too:
1. Circle - 100 points
2. Square - 500 points
3. Diamond - 1000 points
4. Triangle - 5000 points
5. secret targets are worth 100,000 points
Now the rooms themselves are set up like this:
1. Loading area
2. robot room. This room has two robots in it, one that has the arms moving up and down, it is on the right side of the track. and the other I believe has a large circular saw arm and is on the left side of the track. As you leave this room you can shoot several batteries on the left side of the track.
3. Your first meeting with Zurg. Zurg is standing there "shooting" at you and turning from side to side, he is covered in targets.
4. Is a very small room, it is dark and only has two targets in it on two different "robots" which are just cardboard cutouts. The one on the right makes the Goofy Whaaaa-HA-HA-whoie sound.
5. Is a large room with all sorts of creatures that have targets on them. There are snake like things that turn from side to side. monster in boxes that pop up if you hit the targets on the boxes. and a couple of targets on a spinning platform.
6. Your second meeting with Zurg, he is up high in his secret machines and has a few targets around him.
7. A tunnel to the next room, 3 diamond target in here.
8. Final attack on Zurg, large room filled with high value targets
9. Zurg is captured and put back into his box, and there is one target in here so get it as many times as you can because it is the last time you will be able to get any before you exit.
10. unload zone
If you want to know where the high value targets are I'll show you if you pay my way to the parks......

I think the room set up at WDW is much like this. the last room before unload is the video room and the points board...Dr. Ravenscroft wrote: Now the rooms themselves are set up like this:

Going from end to beginning you have:js3901 wrote:I think the room set up at WDW is much like this. the last room before unload is the video room and the points board...
1. Unload
2. Final fight with ZURG
3. Video Room
?. Large room with the volcano, snake things, and monsters in the boxes
?. First fight with Zurg. There are batteries on the left side of the room and Zurg is on the Right side.
?. Big robots. I know the one with the arms moving up and down is in here but not sure about the placement or the other robot.
