Imagineering

Post by Bullwinkle » Sep Tue 18, 2007 6:38 pm

To the moderators,
I'm an ex Disney Imagineer and love your site. Would like to post to other Disney folk...Imagineers, ride operators, producers et al. What would be the best forum? Perhaps a new one? Forgive me if I'm out of line, I'm new to all this.

what do you mean? you want to advertise us to the current Imagineers and other Disney folk? or that you're looking for other Disney-based forums to post to besides us?

I don't know what I mean. Remember I'm new to this. I'm used to chat rooms. Forgive my ignorance. Just was curious what other ex disney people were interested in, wanting to hear etc. Basically asking what the forums are about.

Welcome to the site! I think the best forum for posts to other Disney Cast Members, former and present, should be in the General Resorts and Cruise Line forum. Start there and we can always move the thread if it ends up fitting better somewhere else :D

Care to share what projects you worked on as Imagineer? I know I would be fascinated to talk to you about such projects.
Matt

Welcome aboard, Bullwinkle. :)

Working at WDI was my dream in younger years. I'd wanted to be a show writer. Now, I just moderate SSR.

Thanx for the warm response,
Me, I was fortunate enough to have worked for WED back in the early 80's. At the time the place was exploding. We were working on Epcot, Tokyo Disneyland and what was called the "New Fantasyland" @ Disneyland. "New" was twenty some odd years ago. I came from the movies and WED liked my resume. My expertise (LOL) is Special Effects. I'm proud to say, that at the time, I was able to work with alot of the Disney Pioneers, older perhaps, but still INCREDIBLE.

Welcome Bullwinkle! If you don't mind me asking, how does one become an imagineer? I have a son in middle school that thinks that is what he would like to become one day. He would like to design rides from an engineering standpoint.

Disney is always looking for talent. There is no "secret" to becoming an Imagineer.
I always wanted to be one and was lucky. If I were to offer advice and I hesitate, It's about inspiration, which I believe he already has.

Thank you for your response I really appreciate it. I do think that he is inspired that is for sure. He loves disneyland and has always tried to figure out how things work. I hope that one day he can make this dream happen for himself.
