Magic Music Days

Post by dimagineer » Sep Fri 07, 2007 7:56 pm

I was wondering how many of you have been to Magic Music Days and actually participated. I was able to do this twice with my high school marching band (1986 and 1989). We were allowed backstage in the costume warehouse (wow all those costumes), practiced in a large tent in the same parking lot (it was hotter in the tent than out) and entered the park through the PotC entrance to march in the parade. We received certificates, pins, and T-shirts. It was an awesome experience and would like to here some other stories about your trips. :mickey3:

I marched in the North Royalton H.S. Band from 98-02. We marched at WDW, Magic Kingdom in 99 and 01. They have been going since the early 80's every other year. I also played percussion for the Singing Angels of Cleveland Oh. We took a tour of the shouth and played at Epcot in 2000, on the stage near The Land and walkway to Innoventions Plaza area. After graduating H.S. I tought at NRHS and went to the rose bowl in 2003. They also marched in the Electrical Parade at DisneyLand.

Our whole music department participated in this back in 2003. The jazz band played at Cosmic Ray's, while our chorus and orchestra performed at Epcot. I was part of the marching band and we got to march in the afternoon parade at Magic Kingdom. We got to see a fair amount of the backstage area but I think the most memorable thing about the whole experience was coming onto Main Street for the first time and seeing the castle ahead of you. It gave me chills and I couldn't believe I was actually marching in a parade at WDW. It was definitely an experience I won't be forgetting anytime soon.

I know my sister did this with the school band and jazz band at DLR back when CA first opened.

Yay we have just been accepted to play, we haven't had any confirmed locations as of yet, but Cosmic Rays seems to be a favoutie for Jazz Bands. The dates we have been given are towards the end of March arround Easter

Is there anything I should look out for?

Thanks
TOM

I did this with my high school marching band as well, but at Disneyland in California. We were so exicted to see the back stage areas, especially the parade warehouse.
