Package shipping from the resorts
There was one awesome shopping feature we took advantage of on our last trip to WDW. In the shops in Downtown Disney (and in the parks, as well, I think), was the sort of "Magical Express for Your Purchases"--where the shops will have your purchases sent directly to your resort room so you do not have to carry them around. I was hesitant at first, but everything arrived in our room next day without trouble.
I think I would like to take it to the next logical step and have most everything boxed up and FedEx'ed home. It's kind of a hassle trying to cram everything into already full suitcases, and I'm almost positive someone in baggage or "security" stole a Mickey T-shirt out of my suitcase. I was pretty upset that it didn't make it home!
Anyway, does some type of packing and shipping store exist at the resorts? Has anyone else done something like this?

You can request packages to be shipped straight home with UPS or FedEx when you buy them in the store.

I've had mixed experiences with this service. Usually the purchases arrive at our room just fine. But there was one time when I bought an olive oil decanter at the World Showcase and it was broken when it arrived at our room. We were leaving and there was no time to exchange it. So we called the shop and they sent a replacement directly to our home, and it arrived in one piece. The nice thing was that to make up for the inconvenience, they added a matching pair of salt and pepper shakers, free of charge. That's classic Disney service.

I do it all the time from the parks. Although last time I was out in DL I sent the stuff to my house myself.........I borrowed works Fedex Number for that one
It really is a great feature, seriously who wants to have to carry a monorail, castle model, olzewski model, etc. home in there luggage or try to find space in there car for it. Of course if you live close to the parks it isn't much of a problem.

We'll always take advantage of shipping packages back to the resort - another great reason to stay onsite. We've not shipped anything home from the resort yet, but wouldn't hesitiate to do so.

of course, you didn't take advantage of this when WE went down. had to find room for those things you bought in the car...Dr. Ravenscroft wrote: It really is a great feature, seriously who wants to have to carry a monorail, castle model, olzewski model, etc. home in there luggage or try to find space in there car for it. Shop to room delivery is a MUST. Don' carry your purchases around all day.
Our shipping to home experience was just ok. It was expensive and because we wanted to buy things from different stores at DTD, we had some problems.

I don't know how thrilled WDW would be about it, but here's how we handled the packing issue when we went to Disneyland in 1997...Anyway, does some type of packing and shipping store exist at the resorts? Has anyone else done something like this?
We pre-shipped out empty boxes to the DLR. They were at Guest Services waiting for us when our train ride to Anaheim was complete. Then, as we shopped, we packed our souvenirs (and dirty clothes) into those boxes and had them shipped home ahead of us. On the train, there was NO WAY to take our souvenirs plus what we really needed with us together.
