you didn't happen to see a hat that said 103.3 The Edge on the front, did you? I lost that hat on Splash Mountain when we went down in December and never got it back, no matter how many times I called/went to lost and found

Whew!!! Had no idea thta you were so busy, packwing.... thank you so much for updating us. I'm living vicariously through your experiences. I'll bet those questions do make your mind go blank for a moment even though you know the answer. That would be wierd, going to Epcot as a "tourist" even though you work there. So does it put a different spin on how you see anything?
Thanks again for sharing with us.

Well hypermommy, I've already been to EPCOT as a guest on my day off and it did not feel weird visiting there as a guest. I did not feel like I had to clean the restroom or pick up the trash. I think I felt like I knew a little bit more about where things are located inside World Showcase. If anything, it makes me more aware of the little things.
Today I'm going to Animal Kingdom by myself to visit all my friends who work there (one works at Boneyard/Nemo, my roomie works at Everest, one works at Pangeri Forest, one at Bug's Life) so it should be fun to go see them then I'm going to MGM afterwards with one of them.

I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

So do CMs still get free admission or are you getting in on a pass that you have? I was talking to a friend of mine about working at Disney and they said they saw on the site that you don't get free admission anymore. What about friends/family admission? If they can still get friends/family in for a reduced price then I need to really work on getting her husband to work at Disney

Yes, CMs get free admission to the parks using their ID. CMs can let a certain number of family/friends in for free using another pass that Disney issues. I'm not sure about the tickets at reduced prices though.Hypermommy wrote:So do CMs still get free admission or are you getting in on a pass that you have? The thing with the ticket passes confused me then, and now I can't remember how it exactly works.
As for discount tickets, I think if you show your ID, you get some percentage off. I could be wrong.

If memory serves, you get a 20% discount at merchandise locations (40% from November-January)

So yesterday I was working the Odyssey Bridges when I'm making my way around the front of World Showcase, a large group of Italians come up to me and they show me their digital camera. I'm like they probably want to take a picture together, nope nope. They want me to take a video of them, it's about the closing of Alfredos which was yesterday. They spoke Italian throughout the video so I had no idea what they said but the video was around a minute long. So if you see a video like that show up on YouTube, just remember who taped it

I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Haha, the randomness of some guests, there
I remember a guest took a photo of me whilst I was working at Fantasmic! one evening.. I had a badge next to my nametag that said "$2.00", which was the price of the soda I was selling. A couple sat at the front found it amusing and asked to take a photo of me wearing the badge.
I haven't spotted it around the interwebs yet (which is probably a good thing!). In fact, I haven't spotted any photos with me in yet (other than the ones on my site).

I've finally got an update for you guys. Today was Traditions, which wasn't quite as bad as I had expected. It was interesting enough to keep me from drifting off, but not exciting enough to make it feel like anything less than 8 hours. The one thing that was surprising though was the fact that so many people know so little about the company and the resort. I know not everyone that works at WDW is going to be as crazy as I am, but I'd expect them to have a general understanding of what makes up the property and Walt Disney Co.
"On with the show!" is this Saturday and then I have training the 2 Fri/Sat after that. I'm curious as to why it takes 4 shifts to train as a park greeter. There must be a lot more to the role than there looks.
I already enjoyed my perks by visiting MGM this evening and will be at Epcot tomorrow. The only problem was that my ID didn't scan this evening so that caused a bit of a hold-up. I'm hoping it'll work better tomorrow.

The ID for some takes at least 24 hours to properly work. It happened for some of my friends. When you come to EPCOT tomorrow, please look for me! I love visitors
Today I went to work early and got to EPCOT around 2, I wanted to see the new Oh Canada Film. I was so thrilled to see it, I even had my "Canada is Hockey" Tshirt on, which got a lot of comments from the Canadian Cast Members. The lady introduced us as one of the first to see the brand new film as today was the first day of the film.
Now onto the film, They really did keep a lot of the same clips as the old movie, (the ones that appear timeless and not outdated. All the city shots were defnitely updated and looked wonderful. Even Martin Short wasn't too bad himself, they even made some quick jokes about other rides in the park.
Last but certainly not least was the song. The lyrics were the same, it was just sung by the Canadian Idol Singer, I honestly did not feel like she butchered it, I liked it, I even had chills down my spine during the song.
Work wasn't too bad today, I was an extra so I just had to go walk around all of World Showcase and just help anyone out, I had a lot of guest interaction today because of that which makes the job that much better. All I have to say is that I'm still getting chills watching Illuminations every single night. It is so wonderful

What do you mean? What kinds of things did they not know? Just curious.coasterphil wrote:The one thing that was surprising though was the fact that so many people know so little about the company and the resort. And of course it's also where they give you your costume for the first time

I think the four days of training is the standard thing. I had four doing QSF&B before they stuck me on my own. I think it's mainly to make sure you've got the idea of what you're doing and are fine to do it alone.
