After listning a while, do your ears start to hurt?

Post by subsonic » Dec Wed 29, 2004 12:57 pm

I find that my ears start to bother me after listning a while. I think it's because of the quality of the stream. It's too "old tv" sounding. I wonder if a 128k stream would help. (Don't get your hopes up, I don't have a source of bandwidth for this) I'll do some testing though.

I don't have that problem. How long do listen for? The 56k stream sounds ok, but any sound quality improvements would be welcome. :)

I'm fine but then again I have it on speakers vs. headphones [so the sometimes less-than-perfect recordings aren't as noticeable] and the speakers aren't the world's greatest. Though any improvements are, like noted above, appreciated!

I love it. I notice though that for some reason it sounds better using Windows Media Player vs. Winamp. My work cuts my connection at 3:00:38 so I have it in its own playlest so when 3 hours goes by and I get cut it will just reconnect and keep going.

I've noticed it's more on certain tracks. Those are probably the ones that I got at 24kbs. There's nothing I can do about it to make them higher quality.

yeah you can never go from 24 to 64 with better sound if you go from 128 to 64 then it sounds fine. Now if you went from 128 to 64 back to 128 than it would sound bad.

I never get tired of it. And compared to other "Disney" radio sources (Wanna B's now that I found Sub) This is EXCELLENT. Besides if you have a good sound card and a good set of speakers you can tweak it a bit.

My ears never bother me unless of course someone requests a whole bunch of yodeling matterhorn tracks in a row, that can drive me nutso.

Actually, I've found Subsonic to be one of the better stations for this kind of audio. A lot of it sounds as good, if not better, than the audio I have on my computer in my personal collection, and it's certainly better than, say, Sorcerer 1 radio with all its commercials and such. I thoroughly enjoy this site!

I also haven't had this problem. The quality of audio on this site is excellent. I am still in amazement that this place exists...ad-free and all!
