How many days make a perfect Disney World Vacation?

Being realistic, if you were to tell someone to visit DisneyWorld in Orlando. How many days would you recommend for a first time visitor?

While I'd like to say 10 days/ 9 nights, the reality is that most families can probably only shoot for 6 days/ 7 nights due to cost, available vacation days, etc. Depending on when you go, that still gives you time to do a great deal. Typically that's about how long our visits are, and someday I hope to do a 10-day trip.

We've done 9 days/8 nights and are doing it again this year, so I voted for 10/9 as the closest alternative.

If money were no object I'd tell them to stay at a deluxe resort and to stay for 2 weeks. There's the parks, and that's plenty to do. The water parks are great. Downtown Disney's fun. But then there'd be plenty of days just to hang out at the hotel and relax.

We usually stay for 8 days and 7 nights and we've had plenty of time to do the things we wanted. But it is always nice to have that extra buffer in there to relax and take a few days off, so I voted for the 10/9 option.

We usually do 8 nights and it's the perfect trip for us. On years we go more than once we might do two 5 nighters - I think it really depends on the frequency, but for a first timer I'd personally recommend at least a week with an onsite resort stay. 8)

We usually spend two weeks, but we take our time. We also have a few free days and we usually go to at least Universal also (sometimes Sea World and now Busch Gardens ma be a repetitive trip also). But if you just go to WDW and all you want to see is the parks, Magic Kingdom usually takes two days to absorb everything and the rest are about a day each depending on when you go. Plus having a day or two for repeating favorite rides or hanging by the pool is good too. I'd say 7 or 8 days is the "ideal" amount of time.

People.. I am disappointed. Very dissapointed!

To be honest any length is fine with me, but I would prefer at least 5 days. That's one for each day plus one hopper day for MK and Epcot.

If I had my choice I would lean towards 10-14 days...

This gives you plenty of time to explore the parks on multiple days, shop, and enjoy the fine recreation at WDW. Oh and visit Sea World and Universal.

We have found 10 days to be the sweet spot for us. Usually by the 10th day it is feeling like it is time to get home.

Longer stays also seem to be the most economical for us in cost per day terms, given that travel (usually air for us from CT) is a fixed cost no matter how many days you stay and park tickets increase nominally after the first 5 days. Hotel costs will increase with more time (and are now slightly more expensive over the weekends) as will food, but travel and park tickets (for 4) still are the largest two expenses. Hey, I can always live on Dole Whips and funnel cakes if I have to (come to think of it, those ARE my mainstays while I am there

Exactly my thinking. While it would be awesome to do a 10 day vacation someday for my family, most families aren't as hard core Disney lovers.

I think that 6 days/7 nights allows a family to cover Disney World perfectly.

2 days magic kingdom - lot of ground for a family to cover
2 days epcot - same as MK
1 day animal kingdom
1 day mgm

any of the 2 days could be changed out with the water parks or any misc. stuff

heck, my family goes by this format and it works like a charm! then again, if you can stay the extra days, go for it, but most resorts offer the full week with minimal reservations for more than that (at least that i've seen, we tend to stay off of disney grounds)

I thought about it but then I got to thinking.... if Disney were no longer a magical vacation but just the something I did every day I wonder if my feelings would change about it. I might even get bored with Disney (oh no!!!!)

6 Days work great, if you park hop, and have time at the resort/pool in between parks.....This will allow you to also get to a water park, DTD, etc.....Utilize the early open & late hours.......Stay hydrated......ENJOY!

Ideally, the perfect WDW vacation would be an infinite number of days

I did 90 days there last year, which was cool to be able to do, but if I were to go on a holiday there, I'd probably want at least 2 weeks to be able to take everything nice and slowly

We've done WDW and Universal on a 3-day trip which was killer crazy.

Ideally and if money were no object, I'd say a two-week stay. That way there's no rush and there's time to explore everything, everywhere.
