Old or new, I love EPCOT/Epcot; it's my favorite park. I loved the old rides, but I also love Test Track and Mission Space, and I'm dying to do Soarin'. About the only thing they could do to ruin it would be to mess too much with Spaceship Earth. I wish they would lose the wand, and the ride is sacred. I also wish they would put more effort into Innoventions.

I guess I'm getting my wish; the wand is coming down as part of the Siemans rehab. That's what I get for not keeping up with Disney news for a couple of months. I hope they leave enough of the original ride in place that it's still recognizable. I'm bummed that the narration/music is being replaced, but the idea for the "choose your future" finale sounds cool and is very reminiscent of Horizons.

Hi folks. Pardon me for getting all mushy but I really do miss EPCOT Center in almost every way, shape and form-literally. Just the way the pavillions look today, (are they even called pavillions anymore), leave alot to be desired from the originals. Although some of the new technology does work in some places; Mission Space and Maelstorm most notably, the dare I say it, heart seems to be missing. Iknow I'm showing my age here so let me just say that if it ain't broke don't fix it. Thanks.

My wife and I were talking about this the other day. Her first trip to Epcot center was in January. When talking I asked her "Did you feel Futureworld gave some sort of message?" She replied, "It just shows some neat things that can happen in the future". I told her that EPCOT used to be about learning about the past, present, and future. The attractions used to be more like SSE. EPCOT has really lost touch on what it should be.

There was definitely a more cohesive story from pavillion to pavillion in the past before the re-models, yeah. :x It's too bad that element of storytelling has been lost.

Amen, be seated. Sub, that was a great way to summarize how so many feel about the "new" Epcot. It's not that I don't like some of the additions, it's just that the learning aspect is slowly going away. "Old" Epcot was proof that learning can be enjoyable. :?

Now EPCOT seems to be the current product line of what ever company happens to be paying the bill at the time. EPCOT used to be a window into the future. It's like nobody wants to take a chance. You might as well be in a show room or factory display.

I do like the new rides a lot, but bring back the old Journey into Imagination, please. I miss dreamfinder! :mickey:

We feel the same way about Dreamfinger, sgrfunk!!!

The animatronic Dreamfinder, yes, but ESPECIALLY we miss the live, real Dreamfinger who walked around with Figment!

What did the Energy Pavillion used to have in it? I've seen the Ellen show, but I'm figuring there had to be more. But I just can't remember what it was. Can someone clue me in?

The preshow was totally different and unique. The screen had a series of turning plack that had projections on them. As they moved the pictures changed. It was so moch more than a movie but more like a living art exhibit.

That'd be cool! I tried to find it on youtube this morning but to no avail. Anyone know where I can view what it used to be?

A little of both. I would be bored if everything had remained the same. However, like alot of folks there are somechanges I dont prefer. I liked Horizons. I don't like the new food court at The Land.

I wish the would have built test track & mission space behnd/to the side of the origianl attractions (kind of like they did Soarin'). That way, we would still have World of Motion and Horizons (my favorite). I like the new rides, I just really miss the old ones.

"I do like the new rides a lot, but bring back the old Journey into Imagination, please. I miss dreamfinder!"

I heard a rumor that Imagineering is looking at changing Journry to Imagination. Prehaps the will add more figment and bring back Dreamfinder...I also heard they may reopen the upstairs of the Imagination Pavillion.
