My husband and have found that we save money by eating a nice bkfst outside of the park and then try and combine lunch & dinner together. I usually take my own snacks and bottles of water, because drinks especially water can be expensive. Also, if you have children, I recommend the toddler meals that some of the restaurants do, it is usually enough to share.
Have a good time.

The "Count Down Chicken Fusilli" (in a kind of cream sauce with parmesan and basil, sun dried tomatoes, pretty good stuff) is $9 and can almost feed two adults by itself. Also split the "Far Out Focaccia Bread" with marinara dipping sauce ($5) and you've got two adults fed for $14, in the park, and it's not burgers and fries.
Just one thing we like to do there.
Thanks so much for this tip! We just got back from our trip and we loved this! It was delicious and easy to share.

We've had good luck with out of the way places, especially vegetarian dishes are usually very good and cheaper.
Trying to get popular hamburgers and fries in popular places right at the popular eating times have been our most disastrous experiences at the parks.

No, no... He's got a point.

Too bad Disney's hamburgers are just average. Usually the meat is dry. I've had worse (Magic Mountain), but I think for the price, the burgers could be better.

For the price they should be steak! We always have our car with us and try to get at least a few meals at Cracker Barrel on hwy192. The food is like home cooked and the prices are great. (That's in Florida.)

Maybe I'm a beef snob, but a bacon double cheeseburger at Pecos Bill's in Frontierland is under $8... that sounds like one extremely cheap steak...
Of course, I'm so used to Ruth's Chris and Vic Stewart's, that I get suspicious of any steak that costs less than $20.

I didn't say a good steak!! It's not like you're at Landry's or Outback. You have to admit $8 is expensive for what you get.

It ain't cheap, for sure... but it's comparable to ballpark food prices, where a not-particularly-large hot dog will run 4-5 bucks...

If you feed four people (DW, 2 teen age DS, and self) at a Braves, you might as well go to Ruth's. A braves game cost us about $200 when all is said and done.

We would split meals from the Plaza Inn sometimes. Their portions are usually big enough to feed two adults. Also, a good way to save money (and if you don't mind the prep work it takes) is to pack a small cooler with sandwiches, drinks, chips, fruit, etc. and rent a locker outside the gates. At lunch time, just get your cooler out of your locker and there is a little secluded picnic area right outside the gates that you can sit down at. That way, you're not straying too far from the park, you're saving money, and eating something that's probably healthier than fast food.
We went total extreme in saving on food on our last visit. We booked a hotel that had a full kitchen. We bought groceries for the week and had breakfast and dinner at our hotel. We just brought snacks to eat during the lunch hour. It really saved on money if you don't mind leaving the park at dinner time and then (if you want) coming back in the evening. I guess it just depends on how much you want to spend on food!

I agree Spaulo, I went to Cheesburger In Paradise the other night and spent $8.95 for a burger there (and I've paid more elswhere). The quality was a little better but considering you are in the Disney parks, it's not as badly priced as it sounds. Of course if someone wants McD's they can always leave the park.
In the fancy restaraunts you are paying for atmosphere. What better atmosphere can you get than Disney!!

A little?! I've only been to the C.I.P. in Lahaina on Maui, never to any others, but those were by far the best burgers I've ever had, and are ridiculously better than anything at the Disney parks.
And besides, the one to get at C.I.P.... the "It's All Good" Burger (bacon, guac, two slices of cheese, sauteed onions, sauteed mushrooms, onion rings) is like $13.

unfortunately, it's gone now, but the best deal in the park was at Casa Del Zocalo, the BBQ Plate or whatever. It was around $15, but more than enough to feed three people. I'm not kidding. Had Ribs, half a chicken, fries, beans, coleslaw and a corn muffin. We used to traditionally be over at DCA, catch Grizzly Rapids right before closing, then head over to CDZ and split the plate. Great memories.
