Wow I can't wait to experience a non-disney fan in person. I'm just glad my roommate is a big disney nut like myself. I couldn't imagine knowing someone down there who doesn't even know what the Tiki Birds are!!
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

I'll probably be doing this in Fall of 2008. I'm very excited!

I think there are a lot of people who go down there to have a different experience, take a semester off, or just party. I met a bunch of people who didn't know the first thing about Disney, or if they did, they were rather nonchalant about it. It is good that your roommate is into it, though. I had one roommate who was as obsessed I am, and we had a blast together!

True. None of my roommates were even close into it as much as I am. Come to think of it, I'm not really sure why any of them were there in the first place. I think a few of them wanted to party, but work just made them too exhausted most of time.

For me, it was to get to know WDW better and to take a semester off from school.

Lion, what a great thread!!! I'm sure many of us are going to be following it quite closely. You said "it's also very cool to learn the story behind all the buidlings and signs." Are you talking about on Main Street in MK or something specific to MGM? Either way, I'd love to hear whatever you can tell us from that or the Traditions class. I don't want to get you in trouble or anything, but as a recent Disney convert I still love hearing this stuff.

But get some rest first. You sound exhausted. But what a great experience. I can't wait to hear more about it.

I completely agree.

When I did the International Program last year, my roommates couldn't give a hoot about the whole Disney thing.. It did seem they were just there to party and do something other than their normal college stuff.

Of course, I didn't have to do the various classes on my program.. I just did the whole working at MGM thing and spent the rest of the time in the parks having fun!

Hypermommy: Don't worry about me getting in trouble, my Program has been over with for more than a year now. I started this thread back in 2006. If you go back to page one, then you can follow my journey through the program of 4 1/2 months. Most of it is me complaining about roommates and co-workers, lol. But other times it's not.

If not, you can read about Packwingfn's Program which will start in just under 2 weeks. I'm sure he'll keep us updated ;)

acp: Yeah, there were definitely party people there. Be smart people!

And if you get really bored, there's a thread somewhere with my experiences in it from last Autumn...

*searches*

Here's a link to page one, which was started when I first found out I'd be going to work at WDW. There's semi-regular updates in there from my two months with the mouse in there (although the photo links may not work any more since I reorganised my website. Prod me in IRC if you want to see them and I'll get you the working links to them)

The thread: viewtopic.php?t=1905

So today I finished my last day of work at my job here at home. I've been there for 6 years (it's a supermarket) so I admit it's been a weird few days at work knowing I will be doing something different down in Disney.

The best part of the day was my manager bought me a going away cake and they totally suprised me with it. They are all very excited for me!

Packing is going slowly.....Backpack, Laptop Bag, Suitcase, and Duffell Bag are all over the floor in my room. I have some clothes packed in the suitcase, the backpack is all set, the duffell bag has some stuff but mainly its for my bed linens. Then my laptop is all set & ready to go.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

How exciting! Be sure to keep up with a good report once you arrived - I enjoyed Lion and acp's posts from the college program thoroughly.
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I will try my best, I guess it depends how I handle things once down there.

Right now I'm in the apartment living room, sitting in a 2 bedroom apartment at Chatham Sqaure.

My roommates are Matt, Luke, Chase, 2 of them are alumni so that helps me and my roommate out. Luke & Chase already know their roles (Rock n Roller Coaster and Backlot Tour)

Tomorrow I find out my job location!
