Length of Time before a song can be requested again?

Post by FlaDisFamily » Aug Tue 07, 2007 1:35 pm

Hello everyone!

Just found the site and really like it. Kudos on all the tracks.

I'm curious as to why there is such a long downtime to request a track that was played recently?

I went to look up the Epcot Entrance Melody, and saw that it was last played on Sunday Aug 5th. The next time its available is Thursday! Is 4 days the standard time?

Im sure this is in place to stop excessive play of the same track. Just seems thats a lil long in trying to ensure the same music isnt heard over and over. I would think 24 hours would be plenty to ensure that someone wouldnt get sick of it. Any chance on this happening?

Thanks for reading!

First of all....Welcome to the site!

We chose the delay time to reduce the repetition of tracks. By limiting the time the tracks are allowed to be replayed keeps tracks from being over played and encourages new track request.

Some tracks have multiple versions so you generally can hear the track without waiting.

Or you can visit us in the chat room and we might just queue up your track

my philosophy is that I don't care how long I have to wait to request a track, I'm just happy to have the ABILITY to request what I want. Some internet radio stations don't even have any kind of "Now Playing" page, let alone a request system. and trying to get a specific song played on a local FM station...? forget it...

Sound Good,

And I agree the ability to request a song is truly awsome, was just the length that surprised me.

Glad to be here! Makes the work day go by that much faster listening to Park Music and attractions.

The length surprised me at first as well, but you'll soon realize that if the turn around was just 24 hours, you'd probably end up hearing the same tracks at around the same time every day. I think 4 days allows you to get a lot more variety from some of the "deeper" tracks on the site.
Welcome to the site, and hopefully you'll continue to enjoy it!

Some of the files have 4 or 5 different versions. If you run a search you can (mostly) find what you want to hear, IT"S A GREAT SYSTEM!!! Thanks SUB!!!!!!!

It's toughest for the new people who want to be able to request more. But SR has been up for more than 3 years and adjustments have been made to reduce the number of repeats. Those people who have been here for a while will remember the days when Haunted Mansion would get played constantly.

Today marks the first time I have listen in SR in a couple of months due to some intensive flight training I have been doing at work. Man it feels to good to be back!!!! :mickey:

You say that as if there's some problem with that situation? :-)

I was a little surprised by it as well when I first saw the site, but it makes so much sense. All Disney fans generally end up wanting to play the same songs anyway and this ensures you get a little bit of everything. I know I've heard so many new things that I probably would have never heard otherwise. The station is wonderful and I'm very glad I stumbled upon it.

You'll find that time actually flies between your favorite tracks and there are so many tracks that it doesn't really make too big of a deal.

Of course if you really desperately want to hear a track which isn't available, you can pop into the chat room and ask a site admin to put it on anyway. 8) If they are feeling generous they might just stick it in the play list.

And what's wrong with that? Just kidding.

I only wish I'd known of this place a lot sooner! Hard to believe it's been here three years and I didn't know until this spring.

Yeah, this place is incredible. The only reason I want to listen to anything else these days is to record music to upload here :-)
