Listening to the ride through, I can still feel the rickety ride, hear the poor audio quality, and smell the musty old smell. As a person who used to ride this ride just about every other week, I really miss my Spaceship Earth fix.
I miss Jeremy Irons telling me about human communication

I hope the changes aren't too vast when it reopens!

I'll miss the Irons narration too, as well as the music. I was upset when they got rid of Walter Cronkite, but I grew to love the new narration. Jeremy Irons has one of those voices that would make anything sound fabulous. Does anyone know who is doing the new narration or who is composing the new music?

strange the epcot calendar says SSE will be reopened November 14. Maybe its the whole rehab with all the stuff in the exit area reopened, which is the early 2008 date.

I agree with others, in that I'll miss Jeremy Irons and other aspects of SSE. I'm trusting that those in charge have designed the changes to truly enhance the experience. While I haven't liked some of the changes in recent years at WDW, some information out there points to the fact that the guiding forces may actually be "getting it" now. We'll see.

My husband and I both love SSE and will miss the old design alot. I am looking forward to see what they come up with for the new version. SSE is a must when we enter Epcot and when we leave. We are very upset that it will be down when we visit this year in Sept.

I keep asking, but not even the ride techs know yet!

It is a shame it has to change i really enjoy the rids and scences that are there, I was there in May and rode it twice in a row to take it all in, I noticed that there were more lights already in place on some scences, I wonder who will nararate it this time.

well, from what I've heard, the changes will only be to the end of the ride. (The kids chatting on their computers in Japanese to the end) Everything else will be left the same, just updated technology-wise.

You can see some changes to the ride vehicles in this thread:

That thread also has some SSE news as well.

i hope they don't ruin the ride and expect you to watch a screen and look around. i never understood why anyone would go to DisneyWorld and play video games (after mission to mars, innoventions etc.) if i want to play video games i'd stay home.

I dunno... I like the screen on Test Track. I'm usually watching the rest of the stuff but it's just one more layer of something to look at.
