mouseplanet.com wrote:As we first broke on last Thursday's MousePlanetWatch news podcast, there is a new policy regarding Annual Passholder room discounts. Individual passholders can no longer book up to three discounted rooms. For each AP-discounted room, there must be one adult passholder in the room. The passholder will need to present a valid annual pass at the time of check-in to be eligible for the discount.
This new policy is so new that, as of last week, some floor agents at the Disney Reservations Center were not aware of it yet. Previously booked AP-discounted reservations are not included in the new policy.
Since this is so new, there may be cast members that do not enforce it; however, you should not count on this. Please book rooms according to the policy to avoid surprises when you check in.
Oh come on... this does not make me happy!
I understand Disney needs to make money but how cheap are they getting. Disney has just completed a quarter with $1.1 billion in profits and great performance from its theme parks, with profit margins exceeding 20 percent. I understand they are a business, but they need to be better with the discounts. The have been whittling away the AP discounts for years.. now this.

This kind of crap, along with the constant ticket price increases, is going to hurt them in the long run. Yes, they will still be Disney, and yes, they will still rule the world. But, they're going to start to lose that good guest-friendly reputation they have when no one can afford to go anymore.
This is out of hand.

I live close enough to Cedar Point in Ohio and used to get a season pass there. This year, they raised the prices a LOT and cut what perks there were to having the pass in a big way. So I didn't get one. From what I've heard from locals, attendance at CP is down overall this summer (which I'm sure gas prices and higher reg. admission plays into too).
It'd be hard to imagine that Disney would really feel a pinch as big as it is... but if you alienate enough people with [greedy] policies, it probably could happen...

See the post about raising ticket prices for my same questions. (When do Disney fans say enough is enough? etc)
All around the sky rocketing prices are getting out of hand. Granted if a family saves for several years perhaps they can go finally visit but for a limited time.
I honestly believe very soon the park will be just like they wanted for Jurassic Park. They'll be able to charge hundereds of dollars and people will pay it. But just the "better" half. Eventually it Disney World will be like one of those vacations like going to Paris or something. And I find that absurd, and sad.

Like Jurassic Park! What a fantastic analogy, considering that line in the film where the old man says about all the problems Disney faced when opening Disneyland. And Goldblum character quips back that "the pirates of the caribbean didn't jump out at EAT the touriss!"
Nice analogy.

With the price increases, It sounds like Disney is eating the guest!!!!!!!! What's next: you go to leave the property and they grab you (and your family) by the ankles, turn you over and shake out what ever money is left in your pockets?!
