I think your observation is a great one but the spin on it is wrong. The formula for making games has not changed though. They just look better and can do more. This is the type of change (upgrades?) Disney needs. If you observe franchises like Super Mario Brothers, Zelda, and Fantasy Star they have basically stuck to the same play styles. In relation to Disney I believe this has happened to rides like (at Disneyland and hopefully WDW) Haunted Mantion, Space Mountain, and Pirates. They have received upgrades to make them more exciting.

I'll say it again, Disney should upgrade not replace. Imagine how incredible Horizons would be if all the animatronics were like Jack Sparrow. So many new effects can be done and ride systems have evolved. Disney could have expanded World of Motion to use the Test Track cars, still told a story like WoM and at the end showed you what the cars of the future would be like by zooming around like it does now.

Give me the old EPCOT with new upgrades that stayed on theme.

Very good point...i must admit i couldn't find my words in comparison, but i'll just say that you said what i was thinking...that way i look good too!

I totally agree with you Subsonic but not to spoil our fun.

Wasn't there a specific reason why they had to get rid of Horizons? Wasn't the rumor that the building was sinking or something and it was getting worse, and thats why they had to destroy the whole building. (I could be totally wrong though)

Test Track however is using the same building as WoM so that has no excuse lol

And what about the rides thta have upgraded but not replaced...Look at The Seas/Universe of Energy for examples.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Rain upon that planet Earth. And they rain ... and rain ... and rain. The deluge.

I haven't heard about this, but I'm not up-to-date on everything! :) If it is true, why not rebuild it better than ever instead of replacing it?

not sure if its Murphy's Law or Croakers Luck.

Just like how the Luxor in Vegas is sinking? And so is the Magnum at Cedar Point? hehe.

Because I just started going to the parks in recent years, I don't really know what the older attractions were like. During my first trip, Wonders of Life was not operating, and Mission Space and Test Track were already up. Although I love the attractions that are there now, I do wish that I could go back and experience some of the classics. At least we still have Spaceship Earth. :)

I wouldn't know - I have never been to the old Epcot so I can't really say anything on the subject. However, I prefer more intense rides, so I'm guessing it's the new one for me.

I would have to say the new one, because I have no frame of reference for the old one. That being said, I would have liked to have been to the old one so I would have a point of comparison. I would have liked to have seen the old Communicore, World of Wotion, and Horizons attractions. I would probably prefer the Living Seas attraction as it was, I like Finding Nemo and all, but c'mon, it's really not all that great now! I dont know about the Turtle Talk feature, so I won't judge it, but the clam cars weren't all that exciting to me. But Test Track does but a big smile on my face :D so I can't hate it, and Soarin' is probably one of the best rides I have ever been on.

Youtube is now a great resource for viewing old attractions. Just do a search for some old rides:

i just don't understand why they couldn't combine the two, old/new epcot. for instance, the living seas with nemo but keep sea base alpha. personally though i prefer the old epcot, journey into imagination is proof of that one lmao!

I suppose somebody got paid a lot of money to change a lot of the attractions we know and love. Especially the Nemo one. I always complain about them changing things everywhere, but I do suppose if you get enough money you will do whatever people want you to do. Oh well, next thing we know they are going to change the Tomorrowland Speedway to include the characters from Cars. Wait, that might actually improve the ride, anything really could help.
