Change is necessary at some point, although not always popular. I'll admit to liking Test Track and Mission: Space, but give me back the originals. I miss Horizons, World of Motion, Journey Into Imagination, and the original theme to Universe of Energy. Oh well, at least I can listen to these on Subsonic and reminisce (sigh).

i agree. test track is really good, but just not as good as WOM. However, all the other originals were better attractions than their replacements. Mission Space just is not a good thrill ride. You should want to ride it again and again, and I dont. Now if they actually made it where, your abilities would change the outcome (rather than computer overide...) it would be more interesting.

Guess I'm old fashioned...I prefer the old EPCOT. The rides were longer and more detailed.
I liked it much better in The Land (boat ride) when the cast member told the story instead of a recorded message.
Journey Into Imagination was FAR better before they changed it! If Figment was Dreamfinder's figment of his imagination then where did this new guy come from?? I realize they had to change Figment's voice but Disney could have found a closer voice.
Too bad GM couldn't have kept both rides.

The "old EPCOT" will always be to my liking. We always looked forward to those attractions where we could get that 20-30 min break in the a/c. But not only that, the rides were down to earth and enjoyable. If Disney wants to compete with the thrill ride parks, built one. I don't think that Walt had those ideas in mind when he came up with the EPCOT idea. If the California park works for those inclinded to ride the fast pace thrill rides, then build one of those in Florida, lord knows they have the room. If i want to ride rollercoasters and flip-flop types of attractions, I'll go to USF.

The original Universe of Energy... we'd go in there and all four of us would fall sound asleep until the finale. LOL
I did like it better when Ellen was added to the show; it made it entertaining at least!
It's interesting to hear the negative reviews for Mission:Space. I'll admit I haven't followed it at all online to what people thought of it. Too bad it hasn't met with our expectations, since everyone seemed to love Horizons.

It is too bad that Disney couldn't keep the old attractions. Sure everything has too change but I wish Disney had kept some of the old attractions. Horizons and World of Motion were awesome. Journey Into Imagination was SUPER-GREAT!! I don't care for the wilder rides so....

I loved 'old EPCOT' but I love Epcot too. It's hard for me to pick one over the other, when I'd rather spend a day in 'new Epcot' over MGM or AK any time.
I want to say I miss the edu-tainment feel of some of the rides, though, looking back on it, I'm not sure what I actually learned from WoM or Horizons - they were just well thought out, well executed attractions. Which is not to say that Test Track and M:S aren't (at least, in my opinion). I think the main difference to my mind is that TT and M:S don't feel as 'classic Disney' to me. No animatronics, flimsy storyline. I'm all for technological enhancements but there should be a balance between moving forward - which is what the spirit of EPCOT was supposed to be, after all - and remembering where you came from, which was also something dear to Walt's heart.
I don't dislike the 'new' Epcot, but I'd prefer that they'd been able to keep some of the feel of the old in with the new. I'm glad Mission:Space is there, but I wish it hadn't crushed Horizons.

I'm all for the updating like Ellen and Nemo. Even though Nemo is a little over the top, it didn't destroy the pavilion like M:S or JII.
I really miss JII and Horizons. For some reason WoM didn't appeeal to me as much, and I'd be indifferent as to whether they built Test Track or not.
Soarin' is good although I wish they had moved food Rocks to the Wonders of Life pavilion, where it would have fit right in and we wouldn't have lost one good attraction for another good attraction.
M:S is a complete waste in my opinion. Of course there's the obvious statement that it replaced one of the greatest attractions Disney ever made. I also think it's rather stupid to build something that a majority of people will get sick on. I don't get sick on it, but I don't really like the feeling of having massive amounts of pressure forced on me. That's not my idea of 'fun'. It's also very short and boring.
Mainly, I liked the overlying theme of EPCOT and how everything is related to our own future. If they can find a way to tie all the pavilions together again to a central theme, I might enjoy it a bit more. Right now it's just becoming bunch of rides where the guests assume the role of something (astronout, crash test dummy, handglider)
I guess nobody, including Disney will never know what epcot is, or what it's supposed to be.

Oh boy, Cheshire Cat you are so correct. Go to a museum for a vacation but don't go to EPCOT!! My kids LOVED the ole' EPCOT. My son was 5 and my daughter was 9 on our first visit to EPCOT. They loved EPCOT. Every trip back to WDW we visited EPCOT first.
But, we still love the old EPCOT much more then the new attractions.
