I saw the movie and I thought it was good but not great. It could have something to do with that I do not like rats. They had some cute parts and I did laugh outloud several times. But still not my favorite and I do not think I need to see this move again. I would say it is my least favorite of the Disney/Pixar movies so far.

Just my humbe opinion.

Croaker, that's what I thought about Cars too. I was pleasantly surprised by all the details and nuances in that one. Hope it's the same here!

I also agree about Cars. That movie delightfully exceeded my expectations.

Ratatouille does not look very good to me. I'll see it sometime (probably on DVD). I'm glad to hear that it did so well and that people seem to like it.

I read an article that the film is number one but the worst opening for a Pixar film. Anyone else read that? Wonder why it didn't open as well as the others? Do you think Pixar has lost something in this film? I haven't seen it... and I'm debating on whether or not to.

Many Pixar films seems to be bad in the beginning, but when you've seen them, they are very good!
I had that feeling with 'The Incredibles', 'Cars' and now also with Ratatouille.
But after viewing them, they seem to be very good.

It's the scene where the rat meets the kitchen and fixes a ruined soup.
After viewing it, the film seems to be a good one! It all depends of the end. A good end makes it a good film.

It is 95% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes...126 fresh and only 6 rotten. That has to count for something.

I went to see it last night and really, really enjoyed it. I'm not sure I liked it more than The Incredibles (because that was such a fun movie), but I think it'd definitely worth seeing. The story was very cute, if kind of predictable. I wouldn't say the predictability made it 'bad', though. S'just not a lot of surprises in it, overall plotwise. But the story was good, and the characters were very likable. There were some definite laugh-out-loud moments in it too.

I would HIGHLY recommend seeing it on the big screen if you're like me and are an animation junkie; the effects Pixar achieved in texturing are just spectacular. And all the props to animate in the kitchen ... and the fact they drew the Rose Window of Notre Dame for, like, a two second shot. Blew my mind.

I read this too, and heard partly that Pixar/Disney were frustrated about not being able to market it 'properly'. I certainly don't think it was 'hyped' as much as Cars, for example. I thought it was substantially better than Cars, though, for what it's worth - maybe the lack of hyping helped me there.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. My wife and I were at MGM when they were talking about it just prior to its release. The artists seemed very excited about it. Personally, I am not sure about the storyline, but all being well it will have some Disney magic!

It's definitely worth looking forward to - this movie is fabulous! The animation is outstanding and the food looks good enough to devour. This is one show where I really wish they had smell-o-vision (though my boyfriend swears he could smell garlic in the theatre).

I loved the storyline, and am amazed at how all Pixar movies are the same, yet different. They're almost all about the main character finding out who they really are, but each one is told in a different way. I never imagined enjoying a movie about rats in a kitchen so thoroughly!

I'm going with a friend to go see it on Sunday. From the nine-minute preview that U016292 posted above, it looks like it will be a cute movie.
