Attraction Ratings: Disney Studios

Post by MansionButler » Oct Tue 31, 2006 7:15 pm

Since this caught on after all, I'll keep adding them. Remember to do your own ranking before attacking other people. ;)

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Image
Muppet Vision 3D Image
Rockin' Rollercoaster starring Aerosmith Image
Great Movie Ride* Image
Star Tours Image
One Man's Dream Image
The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular Image
Hollywood Backlot Tour Image
Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage Image

I never did do Lights, Motors, Action. Not sure why.

* This is the hardest attraction for me in all of Disney World to rank. The ride itself, when fully operating, is great. But, alot of the show scenes are often malfunctioning, if functioning at all. And the enjoyment is GREATLY dependent on your hosts. If they suck, it's pretty unbearable. If they're good, it's awesome.
Also, the line is ridiculous. It's long even on slow days, and it gets old fast. You usually see the same trailers 4-5 times. I can't watch Fantasia without hearing the hyperbole in that trailer, or look at John Wayne without hearing "Stand asside, Martin!" "No you don't, Ethan. Ethan NO YOU DON'T!"
The memorabilia is interesting, but not if you're standing in the same spot for 10 minutes. It really hurts the enjoyment of the ride, and deters me from going on it more often.
So I could possibly rank this higher, I could definately rank it alot lower.

Image Excellent attraction that should be experienced more than once.
Image Great attraction that you have to do at least once.
Image Good attraction that you should try and do, but don't worry too much if you don't make it.
Image Decent attraction that you should do if you have a chance, but shouldn't go out of your way to do.
Image Horrible attraction that should be avoided at all costs.

Based on enjoyment, theme, wait time, queue enjoyment and area relevence.

Spot on rankings. Can't rate Tower enough. Florida's is better than California's.

My favorites are RnRC and ToT simply because they are thrill rides, but I love Star Tours simply because I've always loved Star Wars and the ride is filled with theming from that universe. I also enjoy the Great Movie ride simply because I love movies and the animatronics in the ride and music is so amazing.

First off, MGM Studios comes in second behind Magic Kingdom in my book. I love being there - it's much more relaxed. Here are my ratings:

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: never did it, too chicken
Muppet Vision 3D: 4 stars - I think it's cute and funny and I like Kermit
Rockin' Rollercoaster starring Aerosmith: 5 stars - off the chain!
Great Movie Ride: 3 stars - the montage is killer, depends on the host
Star Tours: never got around to doing that, but I will eventually
One Man's Dream: 5 stars - Walt totally inspires me, I like learning about ppl's history
The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular: 4 stars - the beginning was slow but it picked up
Hollywood Backlot Tour: again, never got around to doing that, but I will eventually
Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage: 4 stars - the sets are nice

Others I would like to mention are:
Journey into Narnia: 4 stars - although the story is familiar, the displays are great
Voyage of the Little Mermaid: 4 stars - considering that this is one of my favorite movies, this show does the movie justice

Mansion Butler, I think I would agree with all of your rankings. Tower of Terror makes this park worth going to for me. Honestly, MGM is my least favorite of the 4 parks but some of the attractions are my favorite. I just wish they had not rushed the original design and had made it larger. I agree that your enjoyment of the Great Movie Ride is entirely dependent on what kind of host(s) you get. With all the bells and whistles and the thing running as it was intended it is a great attraction and certainly amongst my favorites at all of WDW.

I tend to agree with MansionButler's ratings, although I'd probably bump Muppet Vision down to 4 stars.

I didn't see anyone rate Sounds Dangerous?!?!?! :D

I would give Tower or Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster 5 stars. We also enjoyed the Lights, Motor's, Action Stunt Show, mostly because my oldest daughter loves Herbie and he makes an appearance!

I think Lights, Motor, Action needs to be about 4.5 stars. It is a great action packed show. Many women may not like the action, but for Men it's a thrill ride.
