That's I believe is the point to all this. You came down right on point...It's all about respect no matter which side you come down on this!It doesn't matter if they allow smoking or not, because there are insensitive smokers who will break the rules and smoke whereever no matter what.. But, That being said, there are ALSO insensitive NON-Smokers who ALSO break the rules and take away from other people's good time (like those people who throw their trash on the ground, or put gum in places will someone will sit on it, loud in th hotel rooms, etc.)
I think the issue here is not about smoking or nonsmoking....It all comes down to respect for others. Personally (and I'm a non-smoker here) I think that they should still allow people to smoke in their own hotel-rooms (If people want to slowly kill themselves, that's their perogitive), what I think Disney SHOULD DO, is provide better air filtration for those rooms, as well as to the smoking areas so that nonsmokers don't have to deal so much with it.

Good point! They could have an upcharge for those rooms that have never been smoking rooms. I mean, how do you get rid of that smell? It's in the walls, the wallpaper, the carpet, everything.MouseMan wrote:There will always be the few that don't follow any rules, but when you reserve a room you should have a 3.5% chance of getting a previously smoking room whereas before you could request a non-smoking room!

This is an interesting point. I wonder if the previously-smoking optional rooms will all be gutted and redone? Somehow I doubt it.MouseMan wrote:There will always be the few that don't follow any rules, but when you reserve a room you should have a 3.5% chance of getting a previously smoking room whereas before you could request a non-smoking room!
Though that said, as I said somewhere earlier in this thread (I think) I stayed in an 'active' smoking-optional room in the Polynesian and it really didn't smell like smoke at all, so either no one had taken the opportunity to smoke in there in a long time, or they'd cleaned it really well. The hallway, on the other hand, smelled like a chain-smoking wet dog and no one ever seemed to be smoking out there. knedeau has an excellent point about the air handling/filtering.

Smoking sections in the parks are few and far between. The parks already are non-smoking "except for designated areas" which, if I had to guess, I figure would take up about 0.001% of the total physical space of guest areas at the parks.tmptnr wrote:This rule should apply in the parks as well.
