Back in 1996 when Mum and I first went to Disneyland, we spent a LOT of our vacation at the Festival of Fools show back in Frontierland. The show was just... magical.

(That and I had a crush on the lead Frollo, being the odd duck that I am!

)
I know that when the show closed, initially, Disneyland used the area for a corporate picnic ground. Just wondered if that is still the case? Or have they used the staging area for anything else since?

Being Disney Store girls back in 1996 we decided it was time to make a trip to California to see Disneyland. The Hunchback of Nortre Dame was the new movie. Well, here was a mini stage play of Hunchback at Disneyland. We spent most of our time sitting on the ground watching The Festival of Fools perform. Oh, what a wonderful show it was. My daughter had her picture taken with Frollo. It was AWESOME!!

For the most part, yes, the festival of fools arena is mostly used for corporate parties. It's also been where they corral the cast members during the Pirates of the Caribbean movie premiers.

Hunchback was a great show, the idea of having theming it like a festival and the performers all around the audience, fantastic. Now the area just sits there.
Why not turn that and close to the river, back into a calmer mine ride like Rainbow Ridge but with new animatronics Jungle Cruise style.

I remember when I was around 5 or 6, they had the most awesome easter egg hunts back there at Big Thunder Ranch. It was so much fun. I'd be fine with them bringing back Big Thunder Ranch there. Of course there was the rumor about 5 years ago they were doing a mine shaft ride that was similar to Tower of Terror there, but I don't imagine they'd do that now.

Someone mentioned about Woody's Round Up in another thread. Is that located where Festival of Fools had been?

I remember that show. I did not remember, where it was located though. I just assumed it was in the Fantasyland theatre.
But now that I think about it, the show was really theatrical.

Oh, and "Welcome Home."

No, FoF was over at Big Thunder Ranch's area while Pocahontas was at Fantasyland Theatre. They did FoF as a "theatre in the round". Sorta.

Primarily it is used for corporate events but during special times of the year, i.e. holidays, special promotions, etc. they set up different events there for the occasion. Such as during the Christmas season they have Santa's Reindeer Round-up there where there is live reindeer, the pardoned turkeys from Thanksgiving, cookie decorating, etc.

I know that they also hold some meetings/conventions back there. They had a big Disneyana convention/auction there about 3 or 4 years ago.

Where is Woody's Round-Up then? Someone mentioned that and it sounded like it was at Big Thunder Ranch.
Thanks!

Woody's Randup was inside the Golden Horseshow.
I was annoyed by the fact that the Festival of Fools was in Frontierland, and Pocahontis was in Fantasyland. I thought they should have been the oppisite to be appropriately themed to each land. I did enjoy both shows very much, but was really bothered by the impropper themeing. I sure wish they would fix up that area with a cool new Frontierland attraction. Frontierland seems very empy now adays.
