You fill my heart with joy.. if that rumor is true.
It sounds like a good use of movie characters with an existing ride.
I will have some faith that the penny pinchers will not meddle with the Imagineers....

I was really impressed with Turtle Talk with Crush, esp. from a geeky engineer standpoint. I've never heard of interactive movies before - this was really slick. The little kids were a bit confused when I went but the adults and us older college age kids got a kick out of it with a lot of snickering (those parents are going to have fun with the kids learning Turtle Talk - that's totally righteous dude!). And I like the idea of bringing the SeaCabs back like that. Very interesting idea...

I think they should just because most of the infrastructure for the new ride is still there. It's dumb not to take advantage of what you have there.

Why do so many old attractions need to go "Character themed?" Sure, Living Seas fits with Finding Nemo, but can't they think of something better to do instead of falling back on a popular Disney character? Sellouts...

True, with all the room they have at WDW they should always build new and not remove anything

Merchandising. Nemo was such a success and people like buying into the movie. From a marketing standpoint, it's smarter to have an attraction linked to a marketable character than not. I'm not saying I agree with it necessarily, but I suppose Disney feels it's the way to go.subsonic wrote:Why do so many old attractions need to go "Character themed?" Besides, the attraction was closed due to lack of visitors so if you're gonna re-open it, might as well jazz it up a bit.

Isn't that the Disney way? Since begining all rides have been based on Characters... just look at Disneyland when they built it. Disney has always based rides on their characters, Dumbo, Snow White's Scary Adventure, 20K Leagues, etc.subsonic wrote:Why do so many old attractions need to go "Character themed?" G2 are trying to say Horizon is better the Mission Space???? I though Horizons was cool, but its pathetic next to mission space. Have to say mission space is my fav ride in epcot. Any ride that simulates lift off like that ones does gets and A in my book. Horizons was dated and needed to be replaced.G2-4T wrote:At least they are keeping them and not destroying them with ok-at-best new rides [Imagination, Horizons...]

Any ride that needs to stock barf bags in every seat isn't a winner in my book. Not a lot of folks can ride it, I'm one of the few I know that doesn't get sick on that one. I've ridden it and have to say I was not all that impressed with the overall ride experiance. And from what I've heard and seen the crowds are light for Mission Space - much lighter than what was hoped for...
Horizons needed some updating (like that end movie sequence) but with some work like that it would have been a solid ride again.

Most of those rides you mentioned are in Fantasyland. They work well there.
But look at attractions like Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, BTR, POTC. They aren't movie/character based and are among the most popular attractions.

Exactly, they know it's an easy way to bring people in. But to me, it lacks creation.
It's just the old standby.
