Just In: It's been reported that Disney has contracted for the Wand to come down sometime in June or Early July!! Now if they'd only move the HAT!!!!!

The wand is nice, but it is getting old. They need to remove the hat too. lol

Oh thats great news, where did you hear that Jacca?

A Long Time CM (he's a tech at EPCOT) who happens to be a life long friend told me this morning on the phone. He said that they hadn't told them the date, just it was coming down.

I heard something similar to this. Although I am not saying to not trust your friend, he may have just acted on a rumor that has been circulating lately.
The day I see the crane parked next to the strcture is the day I will be content.

I'll believe it when I can see a link to a press release. Too many rumors fly around about that crap...realistically...why would they take it down? It has the park name huge over the sky...you can see it for miles....its a MAGIC wand. I hate the thing, but I don't know why they would spend money to remove it.

as they say in IRC == FlatlandMounty and WDW Monorail. When I see the crane and the wand coming down is the day I beleve it.

WDW Monorail I've seen a crane parked next to it. It's how they do the maintance on it. The crane is going to have to have a BIG chunk of the wand on it before I beleve it.

With that timeing though I wonder if Siemens had anything to do with it.

My buddy tends to be reliable, but, to take it down they'll have to remove monorail track just to get the crane in. I've heard, one of the reasons Disney wants it down is because it's expensive to maintain.

Good question and it wouldn't surprise me if Siemens had something to do with it. But if this is a true, the wand is coming down... then Siemens should be heralded as heroes!!

There are many, many people (myself included) who would be happy to see it come down. It destroys the simple, clean design aesthetic of future world. Unfortunately I have heard this before and am skeptical. But here's hoping

Oh, I hope this is not a cruel joke. I just hope they then just leave it alone. Surely they don't think that they have to put up something else to "replace" it. 8)
